Is it just me, or is Vi basically a re-skin of Jarvan?

Actually it's worse, as she seems to do what he does better.

I have been playing Jarvan quite a bit, and recently I bought Vi; and I feel like I am playing a stronger version of the same champion. Both have built in barriers, both have a skillshot based gap closer that knocks up targets, both have an instant gap-closing burst ult that has CC, and both have an attack speed steroid.

Jarvan'e EQ combo and Vi's Q serve the exact same purpose, they dash a rather similar range and knock up targets. Vi's Q on the other hand is a single ability and thus is less mana intensive, it also doesn't give warning any warning on which direction she is about to dash in; and while it has to be charged up, it seems to have better range and more damage.

Vi is burstier. Jarvan only has 1 burst ability + ult. Vi has 2 instant burst abilities + ult, as well as her W which has a burst every 3rd hit.

Jarvan's barrier may be stronger but it takes up an ability slot. Vi's barrier is a passive that procs with every ability making it far more reliable and giving her much better jungle sustain, and tankiness (though I suppose he can mitigate a single burst better than she can). She may not have a slow with her barrier, but she has extra burst making it easier to get ahead in the early game.

Jarvan's attack speed steroid is attached to his E. The steroid itself may be better, but the ability does less damage, costs more mana, and is temporary. Vi's attack speed steroid is attached to her W as a passive proc, which means it can constantly be up; and the damage from the ability itself is both stronger, easier to land, and can be used multiple times in the same fight without sacrificing her escape.

Their ults are virtually identica in that they are gap closing single target burst ults that have some form of CCl. They have about the same range, but Vi's hits much harder and even synergizes with a Yasuo. Jarvan's ult CC may last longer and can trap multiple targets, but it can also be flashed out of; Vi's CC is a knock up and cannot be flashed out of.

Vi is not only burstier, she has better sustained damage she more more AOE.

Jarvan IV is tankier, has better clearing than Vi and better chase/escape (His E>Q combo clears a lot more walls than Vi's can, at better angles). His E also buffs his teammates and gives vision.

Jarvan IV is also more useful when behind - since doesn't have to YOLO into the enemy team to be useful - just Ult and E>Q out, or Ult a carry and force Flashes/a kill.

Basically, Vi is the carry "I'm really certain of doing well" carry Jungle, while Jarvan IV is the "I'm not sure if we're going to get ahead" teamwork Jungle.

Jarvan is tankier? I haven't noticed.

J4 does not clear the jungle faster than vi...

Might as well say all ADCs are the same.

Might as well say all ADCs are the same.

Name 2 ADCs with kits as identical as these 2 champions. You can't. Each ADC may have an ability that is similar to another ADC but no 2 ADCs have identical qualities. Each ADC specializes in something that the others don't have. (Except for Ezreal the resident jack of all trades master of none---- actually scratch that. Ezreal is an escape artist)

To me that sounds like you mean it activates every time you use an ability; but it has an 18 second CD, reduced to 13/8 at levels 7/12.

I didn't look up the specifics, but it feels stronger as she has better jungle sustain. It also doesn't require level point investment.

Eh, they're bruisers. Most bruisers have very homogenised kits because there are so many things they require to be effective - DPS steroids, CC, gapclosers and survival mechanisms. It's not surprising that two AD bruisers would look so alike, it's just how Riot's design worked out. Aatrox for example is basically every generic bruiser mechanic combined into one champ.

Hey, I'll be honest. Never played J4 before, so I can't really give a fair judgment of him.

......Their ults are completely different, not to mention Vi is a bruiser where as Jarvan is more of a pure tank.

No, they are pretty much the same with the only difference being that Jarvan can trap multiple people in with him, where as Vi's has more damage and is more likely to execute that 1 target instantly.

Otherwise you use them for the exact same situations.
