What's the point of playing tanks when half the champions shred health and armor like paper?

I don't want this to be a rant but... i am not someone who plays tons of carry champs, i prefer more the support , and tanky/top-junglers. I feel like right now, with the current carry toplaner being dominant and a carry jungler just coming out, there is no "strong point" in the game right now. Unless you are really fed, there just so many champions that can deal with Health and armor that is making playing tanks not only not very fun, but almost unplayable.

The whole point of being a tank is that you should be the one that takes the most attacks, without dieing, peeling for the carries and stuff. Right now it's impossible, you can't do this properly. There are so many health shreds/true damage/armor shreds sources that is becoming a nightmare.

When you are a tank and the opposing team has a Fiora and a Vayne, or a yasuo and other similar champs, you really dont last much in fight.

Then what's the point? Hy should i play a tank if there are so many champions that can deal with it so well. Even Kindred the new champion will shred health.

So i suggest this. Either tone down the true damage, %health damage and stuff, or give tanks some more items to work with against this type of champions.

THank you

To counter burst.

Ever hear of the damage triangle? Burst Counters DPS, DPS Counters Tankiness, Tankiness Counters Burst.

Most carry champs with built in armor pen or true damage fall into the DPS class, the class designed to beat tanks. A Tank's forte is that they handle burst exceedingly well, shutting down and countering Assassins and burst mages. The whole point of a tank is less to be a meat shield but to disrupt burst champions aiming for your team's DPS.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like the highlight of the most recent changes is trying to make all three and the cooperation of all 3 essential for success instead of by having one point of this triangle you're guaranteed to win.

Thank you for pointing that out. I wish people would realize that tanks are not just shields. I see tank supports used in this manner so much, and ADCs expecting you to just absorb damage. It doesn't quite work out when you lane against a Vayne.

You need to learn every role for that reason, especially as a support. Your team should have a healthy distribution of all of those attributes. Burst, DPS, and tankiness.

The meta heavily favored tanks not that long ago anyways. It was not going to stay like that forever.

To be fair tanks made the game very unfun for a long time, and made assassins almost unplayable.

I'm really confused by this thread... Garen and Darius are both still pick or ban... Garen is the eminent tank... but the tanks aren't useful?

garen is not a tank hes a bruiser who has the durability of a tank and the damage of a fighter

Mostly cc as support.

You may not live as long, but if you get in there, disrupt a fight, and become the target for a while you are doing your job

If you are going tank, try all 3 juggernaut items. They give nice health and boosts to AD with on hot effects. After that, get BoRK and build from there. Titanic gives AD for health, like a weaker volibear scaling. You can build from there.

Initiation, counter initiation, and peel.

Mainly for initiation purposes. Beyond that is to either have a beeft frontline or backline if you need to defend your carries.

The tank's points isn't entirely to survive, but if the enemy burns resources in killing the beefy tank, they won't have enough to finish the more fragile ones, which are usually the ones in damage output duty.

Tanks supposed to bring utility and engage, dont supposed to duel, but the problem here is that fighters/juggernauts cant survive to this environment if enemy team plays propertly. 8 out of 10 games competitive get carried by mid lane champions or adcs, I dont want to close my eyes to this obvious thing because 2 out of 10 games get carried by meele dps champions, this game is always about kite, perfect kite is not toxic. If enemy team plays correctly give me a reason to play a meele dps with nearly zero cc, instead of a range dps, range mobility = hidden defense . But this gameplay logic remained for years and when a fighter or juggenaut do his job is the end of the world for many people.
