Neeko's coming out soon, so let's discuss how to deal with her

First of all, I want to preface this by asking why Neeko's W even needs a passive that empoweres auto attacks when she has a 90% AP ratio on her Q, and a 130% AP ratio on her R. It's unfair to introduce a champion that has a lot of damage but also massive utility. I understand that a lot of her damage comes from her Ult, but there was no reason to increase her damage outside of the phases where her ult appears.

Neeko's passive is obviously going to be annoying in teamfights, but keeping a careful eye on what each champion casts and checking to see how much damage each champion is taking (from varied armor/magic resist builds) may help, but ultimately vision and positioning become important when playing against Neeko. When playing as Neeko, hiding behind a brush will do the job.

Neeko's Q is easy to avoid if you're not snared or something.

Neeko's W means you should look out for champs that run in a straight line, similar to Leblanc's passive, except it's worse in a sense because it cannot be controlled after it leaves. Honestly this ability shouldn't be TOO difficult to deal with, but it'll occur more often than Leblanc's passive will. The passive part pisses me off because it makes 0 sense to give Neeko bonus add on damage and movement speed. It's like Twisted Fate's W, but better because you can cast it to do something very useful. (Also the slight invisibility can be annoying if Neeko flashes during that time.)

Neeko's E is like Yasuo's E in the sense that it turns your own minions against you. Gone are the days of arguing that Yasuo's E is broken because it turns your own wave into a weapon against you! Neeko does this too, but she can't use it to gap close. If you ignore the minions and dodge her E like every other skillshot, then you should probably be fine, but if you DO get snared often, put up wards to make sure she's not setting up a gank, because that Morgana-tier snare is brutal.

Neeko's Ult is highly telegraphed when she's not disguised. Any kind of slow, cc, or self mobility will easily propel yourself far away from Neeko because of her lack of mobility (aside from her W's passive), but if she IS camoed, you NEED to be careful at all points in time. Otherwise, you'll want to break Neeko's Nico nico kneecaps and leave her in an alleyway to die. 130% AP Ratio with a stun. Ok.

Thoughts on Neeko:

Good champ idea with the passive and the Q. E seems like it'll be toned down, W would be fine as an active only ability, and the Ultimate brings not only too much damage but also too much utility at too little risk. She gains a shield, stuns, and deals damage. A LOT of damage. With 1 second of warning if camoed. This is a problem.

Because Neeko can find success as a burst mage WITHOUT effective utilization of her passive, I think she needs hotfixed nerfs before she is released. Until her winrate reaches levels of Ryze and Azir, I will consider her unfair, because she brings utility and damage at the expense of mobility, but brings many tools to soft disengage.

I still think Neeko has potential, but either Riot needs to tweak her ratios a little bit by reducing her Q's damage and adding it to her E (or even her W), and reducing either her Ult's damage by a lot, or remove the stun entirely.

This isn't the typical "New champ is so busted". This is "Zoe v2".

I need to practice against her though ;-;

In ranked I'm 100% going to ban her though.

If she's broken I'm just going to concede to Riot here since I'm done letting overloaded pieces of work through champ select. If she's fair to play against I'll let her through and then we can talk about counterplay.

Her W has another easy tell as well, even if she moves in a line with it, the clone will always be in front if she comes from the fog of war with it, and otherwise if she sends it forward before moving in herself, she'll show up after her invisibility wears off immediately if you position back for literally half a second.

The bigger thing to look out for is "out of position" enemy champions at low health. Basically play the same way you would against a campy jungler and assume someone coming in overly aggressively is really a high-health Neeko and not a low-health Jinx.

Smart Neeko's won't copy a marksman, they'll copy someone tanky like an Alistar or a Sejuani.

Plus, the point of W is to misdirect, not to run with, but side by side comparisons may help when applicable.

That passive makes sense to me. Without her ult 90% of her damage comes from Q which is conditioned by needing CC for full effect.

She needs that passive to still be able to be a threat during the cd. Otherwise there would be no risk to engage her after she shoots one singular lonesome ability.

I hate that ridiculous range on the ult though.

Karthus will probably be a really nice counter to Neeko, especially because he has a tool to deny her escapes/engages. His W perfectly counters her’s, and his Q can be used to poke down her clone. Combined with his ult disabling her passive, I think he will be a nice way to shut her down.

" Until her winrate reaches levels of Ryze and Azir, I will consider her unfair," a little reminder wouldn't hurt, but ryze's winrate is 44.53% and azir's winrate is 45.81% , so NO, nerfing her to the ground until she hit those stats isn't fair either...

The reason I said this is because Ryze and Azir bring something into Pro Play just like Neeko.

With Azir, it's the combination of Mobility, Teamfight Ultimate, Turret, and damage.

With Ryze, it's the Ult.

With Neeko, I'm expecting the passive, the Snare, and the Ultimate to be massive reasons the new Neeko is going to be really really good in pro play.

it's like people whining around about how op swain was, then they learned to play against him, then he's not op, riot didn't necessarely nerfed him, thecomunity adapted. and although her q and r damage are broken, with those ability on cd, she's USELESS. btw if you cc her during her ult cast time, she's useless too.
