Riot talking about midseason & Aurelion Sol,
"Aurelion Sol: Is finally out! Initial reaction so far is that he’s difficult to play, and we’re seeing a lot of young dragons struggling on the Rift. That said, once he gets a number of games under his belt, Aurelion Sol’s success ramps up past almost any champion release thus far. We’re shaving some power early and then we’ll assess again thereafter. "
Then why is his difficulty level low? 
The difficulty bar is for new players. All you have to do is stand around and you'll do damage automatically- his skills are all simple to understand and pull off.
-Cough- no skill needed to get pentas as him -cough-
JK... but seriously... This is one champion I could have lived without...
The only thing i find difficult about him is hitting your stars. Sometimes it's hard for me to judge exactly if they are in line of my star or just far enough into the edge of my ring that they LOOK like they'll get hit, but it doesn't hit
He is also easy to counter...he can't Q immediately after using it so if you are right in his face he has to try and run, ult, or flash. Champs like fizz and diana work good against him
