Tank Issue
I've relized for awhile, pretty much noone actually plays tanks anymore. The only "tanks" that seem to see gameplay are typically the ones with aoe cc. Even then, it seems like they don't see gameplay. So what gives, why aren't tanks played more often.
My own theory, is that they are undermined by everything else in the game.
- Champions have the ability to basically remove the enemies defenses.
- Laning as a tank is difficult seeing how damage champions are designed to win lane early.
- CSing as a tank against someone that can 100-0 you if you aren't careful is also difficult.
- Jungle went from a safe haven for tanks into an invade and gank meta.
- Other champions are just faster, have similar abilities, and overall get the job done better.
But the big one, is that most damage champions can take down a tank in roughly 2-3 seconds.
Hell, a level 18 rammus, with

Cant even beat a yasuo that builds

Which to be honest, should be an easy fight for rammus, especially since
's crit reduction isn't unique.
However, if you replace (on rammus)
,
with
,
, you can suddenly win a fight. Don't believe me, go get a friend and try it out in a custom game.
Tank items are completely out classed, when compared to damage items, and when it comes to damage, not all champions are created equally. Honestly, as the meta stands, tanks don't have room in this game, with all of the %hp damage, armor and mr destroy, and damage enhancements. Not just that, but if somehow a tank were to be able to get more damage, carries also have options to negate a tank's cc/damage (
), but do the tanks have a way to negate carries? The answer is no, not really. Some might answer
, but an adc just builds
, and suddenly they have the MR, and lifesteal to stop Thornmail, if that isn't enough then they also can just build a
, which is guaranteed to pop on tmail, and it will get them through the rest of the team fight.
As I see it right now, the only way for tanks to have more of an effect on the game, is to lower everyone's damage, including tanks, and allowing some hp regen to sneak back into the game. That means that burst mages and assasins actually have to hit all 4 of thier skills to kill someone, not two, and if they hit a tank, it was their mistake. Tanks shouldn't just be an adornment sacrificial lamb that uses their one cc and dies, they should force long and drawn out fights.
Also, as a side note, Warmogs is supposed to be a tanks core item, but noone really buys it because:
- Its out of combat stats.
- You don't typically get out of combat to use said stats.
