CertainlyT should be put in charge of everything that regards champion design

No joke

CertainlyT is Riots best game desgined by a Long shot.

The guy is a genius when he comes to game design He created 5 champions in the past and the 5 of them have been gamechanging in terms of gameplay.

Remember release Darius and the ammount of QQ he caused all the time? Mostly because he was so "different" from everything else that was Meta back then?

Seriously, the guy should be put in charge of everything regarding champion design and reworks.

At least, if Riot was about to rework one of your favorite champions, you would at least be Guaranteed some pretty cool shit. And champions likeCassiopeia would have never been in the situation they are in.

If I was Morello, or Tyndamere, or Whoever the hell is in chage of Riot, I would put this guy on Max Wage and allow him to design all the game champions from now on.

Seriously, this guy is the Jesus of Riot Games.

CertainlyT seems extremely polarizing. For every person like you there is another demanding that he be fired for breaking the game.

Not sure you want that as your lead champion designer. I am sure he should keep designing game-breaking champions though.

Just think about it

If every champion is game breaking, then every champion is on equal ground

Therefor, no champion is game breaking.

Also, people who hate CertainlyT are mostly mages mains pissed at the Windwall and adcs main pissed at the Lantern.

"power creep" "mobility creep" "spectacle creep" would all disagree with you.

What CertainlyT is doing is the very definition of what eventually destroys games.

Wrong

What he is doing is what makes games interesting

Yasuo is probably the best designed champion in the game as he is the only meele champ with an innate advantage over ranged WHILE retaining his weakness over meele.

The adding of new mechanics is what keeps many of us playing the game.

Think of it like this. Imagine if EVERY champion in League right now is designed to at least Yasuo's standards.

To give an example of what I mean, Yasuo has extremely defined strengths and weaknesses. He is mobile within minion waves and large scale compact battles, his Wind Wall is powerful against projectile users, and his ultimate provides utility like no other for teams with any dedicated AOE knock ups. On the flip side, his mobility is worth very little in overly spaced out areas with few targets to dash to, his Wind Wall is useless against non projectile users, and his ultimate is one of the few in the game that has a strict requirement like his.

Imagine if every champion was like this. There are very big and obvious strengths and weaknesses among his kit that has nothing to do with raw stats. Imagine if every fight between an Olaf and Shyvana isn't just about who can hit harder and who can tank the most while the slap each other way. Imagine fights dynamically being decided by every tiny action done by any two champions.

The only reason why CertainlyT's champions are so polarizing right now is because we have a bunch of champions who are essentially just "walking stats", like Dr. Mundo, Olaf, and Shyvana alongside the more dynamic champions that have been released/reworked as of lately.

I largely agree.

I think the single biggest problem in League design is the huge pile of samey bruiser champions that win by having more stats rather than by making better plays.

I think Mundo is quite a bit more interesting than Shyvana, though. It's important for him to land a bunch of skillshots and understand just how much pain he can self inflict without getting into trouble. He doesn't feel that samey to me.

The only paradigm was to make most champions the same, but with a special gimmick. This is why a lot of Season 2 bruisers are so similar.

Then they switched to a more kit cohesive design, where each champ tried to have a whole different playstyle.

They have moved from that to try and not only make champions play different, but bring significantly things so that they aren't as compatible to each other. Your choice between 2 champions shouldn't be which is stronger right now, rather what do they offer that you want.

The issue I have with CertainlyT champs is that they definitely each have their own play styles, and they bring different things, but they also seem to retain all of the "standard" ability functions such as gap closers and crowd control for no reason. I don't really see why Kalista needs a slow and a perma kite passive. Why does Thresh E slow? It just seems tacked on to meet certain expectations for a champion kit, and THEN they each get their own special unique mechanic.

Only the people that like playing his champions like him. His champions are only fun for the person playing it, but complete bullshit for everybody else. I'm sorry but that's not good game design.

I never, EVER EVER, had any trouble dealing with the likes of Yasuo with any bruiser or with Mages such as Annie.

It only troubles skillshot Mages because they can't play their precious Ahri against everything and do fine.

Everytime I saw Ahri and Akali players complaining about Yasuos mobility I would literally facepalm.

You wanna know what's bullshit? Ryze. Ryze is boring as fuck to play for most.

I mean, how can someone have fun with someone such as him? You have no sense of challenge, no fear of falling behind and most of all The Champion itself is Blend as all hell. He has no personality whatsoever, his quotes are blend as fuck and you never feel the champion itself. Not to mention it is buggy as shit, I mean, Ryze is probably the only champion whose spells cancel eachothers channel.

Ryze has a bad design.

Yasuo however, is very fun to play and, as an Assassin, counters anything that is squishy. Not to mention he has and always had hard match ups. People just never bothered learning them. I mean, Wukong is fucking hell to fight with Yasuo. Seriously, that's probably his hardest match up.

While some people think its bullshit that he can block spells with a Windwall, I think it is fucking fantastic, especially because Mages started to be played in the top lane because of the "i can poke u and u cant poke me back topkek lelelelel" factor.

That's the sole reason why I loved Yasuo, I loved to have the upper hand in a match up against ranged champions WITH A MEELE CHAMP.

It might seem like bullshit to you, but that bullshit is nowhere near what bruisers suffered against the likes of top lane Lulu, Ryze and Kayle and many other mages that would occasionally see play in the lane where bruisers used to brawl.

His champions are fun to play as, that should be and is the most important part.

I rather enjoy playing against Zyra Kalista Yasuo Thresh. Champions with unique mechanics make for unique counterplay. Especially Zyra is a fantastic design.

I think Darius is a toxic top laner from the toxic top laner era. I'm willing to give him a pass on this one as it was his first design and he was probably told to make a toxic top laner.

I have no clue how to play Zed, but he always seems to wreck my team when I play against him. I think he's the best designed assassin in the game, which is admittedly a fairly low bar as many assassins have really low counterplay thresholds.

he's brought a lot of unique and fun mechanics to the game. riot gets everything balanced out eventually.

If you let CertainlyT rework every champion then sure.

Otherwise he shouldn't be allowed to design anything because other designers actually think (barely) before releasing something

Also you're not a genius for giving champions everything with no weakness, which is why Riot has to constantly balance his abominations

His are alright but there are some other great people that do Champions as well.
