Is it me, or does a single bad week for ranked just completely fuck your MMR for the season?

Everyone goes on loss streaks, has a bad go of it for a while, whatever. But it seems to me like that shit follows your forever. You have a really bad loss streak and suddenly you're earning 17 LP for a win and keeping that rate despite ranking up to new divisions or entire new tiers.

Am I crazy?

Nope. This is what causes people to be hard stuck. I mean, we all have really bad games, but those of us who perform consistently above average are still punished severely simply for having landed ourselves in multiple bad teams within a short period of time.

The system is designed to literally keep you at a certain rank based on W/L rather than individual performance. And it will never fucking change.

I've lost 2 ranks.. at risk of going back to Silver. I had what feels like 5 games in a row where my bot lane gave up 10 deaths before 10 minutes.. what can you do? Riot's ranked system has been very very poor for a very long time. You would think they would take a moment to play some other games and try to learn a bit about how to match players at the same rank against each other.

I sure hope you're wrong... I'm on an 8 game loss streak in ranked right now lol

Same here brother, My demotion shield is expiring even though I duo with a player one tier higher than me (I'm G4 he's P3). Riot matchmaking is insanely bad even when I win my lane, I lose the game either way. has been like this for like a month. Note that I climbed from S4 to G4 this season.

MMR is a broken system that needs to be removed entirely

D357R0Y3R6/24/2019, 5:15:01 AM4 votes

as someone who has been playing rankeds for 9 seasons

Yes Yes it does, and I remember it clearly

though it needs to be like a 15 or 16 lose streak (from my experience)

General Esdeath 6/25/2019, 12:09:26 AM3 votes

Win for 18 LP, lose 21

MMR is such a joke when it's based on win/lose in a team game and not individual performance at all

Greenlightx6/24/2019, 6:51:30 PM3 votes

If you're good you will move up, problem is on some accounts the number of games that you need is ridiculous. Mmr should reset after every few months or something, and to be honest i t is hard to get above plat solo. Even higher elo players duo their way to masters

The amount of LP you gain or lose from a match is based on your MMR related to your current tier. If you are accurately rated and then go on a long win streak, your MMR will have outpaced your tier, and as such your will start earning a lot of LP per win and losing less per loss, until your Tier has caught up to your MMR. The opposite is also true. If you go on a big loss streak, your MMR will have dropped faster than your tier. As a result, when you start winning again, you'll gain less per win and lose more per loss until your tier has caught up to your MMR. This is especially true if you've reached 0 LP / Tier 5 of a Division. Since you don't fall out of a Division until your MMR is 1 Division down (ie: If you're Diamond 5, you can lose lot of games at 0 LP before your MMR reaches Platinum 5, at which point you'll drop down into Platinum 1), your MMR can fall well out of sync with your LP, and you'll need to get it back up before you can start climbing again.

This is intentional, as it encourages players to keep trying to improve rather than reach a certain point and then stop for fear of dropping, which was the case way back when you could win a game, reach Platinum, lose the next game, and fall right back down into Gold.

Riot, please open up the MMR system (and likewise how it is tied to LP) to scrutiny. The only thing that hiding MMR accomplishes is protecting your matchmaking system from valid criticism.

I don't trust your reasons enough for why I can win 12 games in a row for 24 LP each, and then lose 3 games, and then my next 10 wins are 19lp each. I don't believe that you are adjusting my MMR enough to make up for it, and unless you SHOW us what you are doing back there, for all I know, your system is bugged, flawed, or otherwise unbecoming of the largest completetive video game in the world.

Also, there is no possible MMR adjustment that can accurately offset the skill difference that autofill and duo bring to solo queue. The more factors you add to a competitive experience other than true MMR and actual player skill, the more your experience comes off as a farce.

Nah,

I've been Masters twice this season and have had bad 3 losing streaks, before getting there and afterwards demoting to D1. If you win enough it gets restored.

If you want to actually understand it, it's proportional to your demotion shielding. Since there's little shielding at high elo, it doesn't tank the MMR as much. But if you lose 20 games at Gold IV 0 LP, you might not demote but you're going to lose a lot of MMR in exchange that can take a long time to restore.

3 days; it took 3 day of losses to send me from G4 to S3; as soon as your MMR drops, kiss your Season goodbye (especially if you are a Support Main, because the shit in Elo Hell just can't be carried from there). I have actually resorted to Maining Mid to try to carry this shitshow now (and gone up to S2).

There are games that even an 18/5 Neeko can't carry though...

If u go on a losing streak, delete acc and srart over imo. Im about to do that for this acc when i get time to play again cuz i dropped from 80% to 51% from 2 lose streaks in a row. Shits doomed

I had a bad week last week and my mmr stayed the same, that is to say the lp gain and loss stayed the same. No idea how MMR works really.

Starcraft243ver6/25/2019, 9:15:25 AM1 votes

I've had losing streaks this seasons, it was easily countered by a winning streak.

TTvRareChill6/25/2019, 3:33:52 PM1 votes

Play our game, Riot is begging you.

CarpeConundrum6/24/2019, 8:05:37 AM1 votes

Just played 2 games and taking a break for the night, first one I was lux 17-6 and everyone else was 12-15 deaths and our Iron 3 MF jungle went 0-16 before cleaning up a few kills post fights.

Second game, played tryn top, got about 115CS more than anyone else on my team, split push hard, took bot inhib, team fed like crazy and I couldn't do anything about it.

I've been on a massive loss streak where I'll win 3-4 games in a row then get smashed down 5-10 games in a row by what feels like smurfs or else because a lane feeds like they're the CEO of unicef, infighting, complaining, early GGing after first blood, giving up, throwing, griefing, etc. I'm bronze 3 trash but I try my hardest to CS and not feed, but by 10 minutes mid and jungle roam, tower dive, snag me, after snowballing off of other teammates. Doesn't matter if I tele gank when I'm top, or roam when I'm mid. I can't count the amount of times I've roamed bot as mid only to have my team run back to tower and let me get spitroasted by adc and sup despite having over half health.

I'm starting to hate playing this fucking game.
