Yes, I'm honestly going to suggest a Karthus ult buff.

When we have champions like Varus and Xerath that can do half that damage to just as many enemies (if aimed right) every few seconds, or champions such as Lux, Vel, Illaoi, etc. whose ult is easy to hit multiple people and deals just as much damage but has a much shorter cooldown, Karthus' ult could use a little love.

Here are the facts, max level Karthus ult does a base damage of only 550. Alone, that is not a lot of damage at all. When Fiddle's ult does a higher base damage (675 I do believe) and level 1 only, that should be saying something. "Oh, but Fiddle's ult isn't the hardest to avoid, plus the player really has to time and position it right!" Sure, getting a proper Fiddle ult or Lux ult off isn't always the easiest thing. When all you have to do as Karthus is hit R and a death beam comes crashing from the sky, the only thing you need to worry about is staying alive while casting it, if you are alive even that is. If already dead and in the passive, you've hit R and are chilling.

"Vhan, you're arguing against your point of a Karthus buff now." Perhaps so, right until I bring up how easy it is to counter Karthus' ult in reality. For starters, as I mentioned before, Karthus' ult does not deal much damage. Even if you build well and everything, it's only maxing to maybe 900 damage at most. Which is nice, yes, but when you compare a single, charged (movable) Varus or Xerath Q every 5 seconds dealing 700 damage, I'd rather take the Karthus ult every 2-3 minutes. (Yes, the cooldown on Karthus ult is absolutely ridiculous.) Even more so I'd take the Karthus ult because of how many ways you can counter it on your own; item 3102, item 3157, any champion with a natural spell shield (Sivir, Nocturne, Malzahar), any champion who can shield a lot, or just in general go invulnerable (Fiora, Fizz, (every champion with a shield)), or you can honestly even just down 1 or 2 of these bad boys before the beam actually hits you: item 2009. Oh, and Soraka in general is a natural counter to Karthus. To even further the counter play, almost every game mode in the Rotating Game Mode Queue has this little item, item 3090, as an essential for literally any AP user.

So, all in all, is Karthus ult a really nifty and useful ult, yes. Even with everything I listed, use your ult right in a team fight and you change the whole tide of battle; even if the whole enemy team can counter it and you'll deal 100% no damage to anyone, you still made them waste their Zhonya's. :) I'm not suggesting a large buff here or anything, but even a simple cooldown reduction on his ult would do a lot of justice for this (both literal and figurative) dead champion.

That is all for now, thank you for taking the time to read and reply to this all; I appreciate any thoughts or opinions peeps have on the matter. Apologies as well, this probably was not worded the best. I woke up a bit ago and have yet to have coffee or anything. :p (Twas thinking this all over yesterday but only got the free time to post about it now~)

I see the things that dodge Karthus' ult as a a moot point. The reason for this being that they also dodge absolutely everything else.

Every single champ other than Karthus and soraka need to leave their lane to impact others. Including TF and Shen, pantheon etc. Although they are global ults (or practically global) they must give up pressure in their corresponding lane. A TF gank which fails with his ulti means that he got nothing and also gave up exp/gold/pressure in his own lane. Also, if they want to get back to lane quickly, they need TP (giving up further lane pressure) or they run a perilous run through the jungle which is open for a gank from you and your Jungler. Karthus doesn't have this, he can impact other lanes and stay safe and farm or push his lane.

His access to his ult doesn't even need to be used to impact the game. The fact that he has it means the other lanes can't risk going low on trades or going all in as Karthus can immediately impact any lane.

Perhaps you're right though, he clearly isn't used often anymore, so a slight tweak might not be so bad. Slight change in ulti CD or damage. Or perhaps a decent increase in damage at the top rank of his ult.

With the mage update giving him 20% cdr in his kit i don't think a direct buff is necesary currently.
