So when is something going to happen with this tank meta...
I mean if you look at the ban percent for jungle/top lane champs in the top 20 bans 16 or so are tanks.
being the number one banned champion in the game with a whopping 87.18%. I guarantee those other 12.82% of games were due to the 1st pick on red side not banning her out of hopes of picking her up but Blue side taking advantage. I mean the only other perma ban champs I've really noticed since I've played ranked(not including fresh out of pbe and still broken champs like

) was morgana and vayne and their ban rates never got this high. Maybe 50-60% but at this time as long as the enemy teams carries are about even in skill which ever team has the better tanks win. I don't know much about balancing a game but at this point what can be done?
In my honest opinion certain champs that build straight tank do too much damage. There are two fixes for this that I can think of. A lower everyones base damage and I mean cripple it and raise the stats on items(or increase every squishy champs base armor/magic resist and per level and maybe slightly increase their hp per level but this wouldnt be fair to the carries since they would do less damage with nothing to really balance it) or make certain defensive items like banshees and ga(which is almost useless atm anyways) ignore 50-75% of all champions base damage. The bad thing about this is it wouldnt help carries until late game because this would still be a 4th-5th item pick up at the earliest.
Its just at this point all of the strongest tanks deal a crap ton of damage on top of their relatively low cds and high cc(
I'm talking to you) which wouldnt be bad if they didnt do this ridiculous amount of damage on top of being able to be tanky and get 40% cdr. I mean late game full build vs full build as a hyper carry like jinx/vayne etc I cant 1v1 maokai. Maokai will have thornmail, warmogs, banshees, randuins and cinderhulk. Even with bt, lw, ie, shiv/pd and a botrk he can lock me up and heal enough with his passive to win 1v1s.
Believe me I'm not trying to rant but every season theres a new monster and a new weakest link. This seaon mid seems like the weakest link and tanky jungles being the monster. Last season mid was the monsters and top was the weakest link. Before that adc was the monster and top still being the weakest link. There should be a way to balance items and champions together so that there is no weakest/strongest position just teams out picking each other. Yes this would make losses in champion select in lower elo but lets face it in bronze-gold no matter whats strong/weak anything can do well there. But once you get into higher elos teams will be able to get their positions picked and decide what would go well together. Primarily having the carries state what champs their going and build the team around them. To make this work add a 2-3 minute pre ban timer for people to talk and figure out a team strat. Yes if people dodge a lot this will get annoying but its better then people scrambling for positions during ban phase and 1st pick not knowing what to ban the everyone picking in the dark. Also to week out troll introduce a kick feature. Make it 3 to kick vote so that duos cant stop people from getting kicked. Make the kick penalty less but harsher the more times you get kicked(to weed out kicks because he didnt play a tank jungle as opposed to that guy who doesnt respect pick pick orfer or is already being toxic in champ select). And make the reset longer. Like maybe 3 days - a week.
Honestly if rito can fix champion select in soloq and rethink the way they balance the game because lets face it at the rate you add champions/items to the game it will never be truly balanced, the meta will just change. Bans should be targets based on weaknesses of the team comp not to ban whose broken atm.
