State of League of Legends for the average player
Hi! My summoner name is Jinx Lust, and this is my first time every creating a discussion in the forums, so I apologize if it is in the wrong spot or anything like that. The reason I have decided to come out of my shell and post in these forums, is because I feel the need to express my opinion about my recent experience playing LoL, which is a game i once heavily enjoyed. I have played League since Season 2 which gives me roughly 5 years of playing experience under my belt. I was gold 5 last season and am sitting at silver 2 right now, which means I am about average, and as a 5 year player I think I represent the opinion of the majority of League players, being that I am by no means good at the game but im also not new or inexperienced.
As of now, I am extremely unhappy with the way League is. My experiences this season, have been almost exclusively negative, and I find myself tilting, raging, and just having an awful time in the games I am playing. Part of this is based on the community, which really there is nothing that riot can do about that, there are 9 other people in the game and not everyone is going to agree, be nice, or play on the same wave length and I think that is fine. However, I think a large contributor to my negative experience in league is a combination of the dynamic queue that has been implemented as well as general champion balance.
While I enjoy the ability to select a primary and secondary role, as a player that has been a primarily solo queue player dynamic queue really hurts me. I occasionally play normal's with a party, however, when i played solo queue I did it to evaluate my self and improve as individual player. Of course, I still queue up solo in dynamic queue, but the fact that other players have the ability to make huge premades really makes playing the game solo difficult. Sometimes, I am just solo on my team with nobody communicating with me, or even worse the other team has a 4 or 5 man premade that just all camp each other and have superior coordination. As an adc main is really tough having the whole other team being able to coordinate focus on me, and maybe if i was better it wouldnt effect me as much, idk but unfortunately im not that great at league or adc, i just really enjoy playing the game and the role. I think that the teamwork aspect that Riot seems to be pushing is GREAT for competitive play or ranked 5s, where games are decided by macro decisions and teamwork, but it absolutely destroys my soloq experience, its never a good feeling when you think you lost because the other team had a bigger group on skype together.
On to the balance aspect, you may look at this post as a "look another silver/gold nub complaining about balance" if you want. However, just because I am not the most skilled player at the game does not mean that i don't KNOW the game. ive played 1000s of games over 5 years and have a good understanding of LoL. I think that for solo queue some roles are obviously better set up to climb than others, which is inherit because some get more farm or are on optimal positions on the map ect. However, some of this has to do with balance. I am of the opinion that ADC's are in a really bad spot right now. In competitive play this is probably not true, because you have a team to coordinate peel and map movement, and they bring a good tower pushing aspect to a team. However, in just regular games that the majority of the player base plays, they seem very week, because, they dont have much control over their early game, but also because of the strengths of both tanks and assassins. With out a team coordinating peel, its really hard to get off enough dmg while master yi pantheon and ahri are all diving you, but if you were a bruiser or assassin you could hold your own vs one of them. The fact that assassins and tanks can still effectively shut down a marksman even if the marksman is way ahead of them is a real problem come late game. IMO a 2 item champ should not be able to kill a 4 or 5 item champ ever unless they played the fight very well, but this isnt the case with most champions.
That pretty much concludes my rant-ish post, hopefully I got my point across clearly, and have represented the average player in league's opinion, although maybe I havent as I'm sure everyone looks at things differently.
