Mage Supports

Really feel like mage supports aren't very healthy for the game, for those that play other roles that need items or intelligent pathing/laning to do their damage, champions like vel brand and zyra feel really lame to play vs as they do equal or more damage without having to cs, path, or conserve mana properly, they just go into lane and spam spells and get gold. I much prefer playing with and against more interesting supp archtypes that bring unique utility or engages to a team, then some mage that does more damage than anything in the game for free.

What do you guys think? I don't think they are "op" just really lame for the games they are in.

Mage supports need to get the fk out of bot lane and go back to mid.

They're just so unforgiving because one misstep = you get cc'd, dot and ignite and you just die. Then they come back to lane with frostfang sorc shoes and it's over, just sit under turret and pray the enemy adc shoves it. Give up plate gold and cs advantage, their bot lane goes 2k gold ahead for free. Gg.

I really hate damage supports when they're overly strong because their margin for error is so much smaller than yours.

Also if a champion takes ignite, when they buy a support item, nerf ignite damage. Ignite should not be so strong in bot lane

I don't mind them. Yes they do lots of dmg, but avoiding a lot of their damage isn't too difficult at my elo. That and they are very much a sack of cash if you have an engage champ like Braum/Leona/Thresh.

Hard engage ruins Mage supports. Gotta get in their face.

Majority of the champs you play a lot are not “healthy for the game”. You got smacked by a Brand so you came to whine about it.

Problem is if you pick any sup bot that does not DMG it better be a tank. The days of healing and shielding your ADC are gone unless you playing LuLu. I always pick mages bot like Brand Morgana Zyra Lux . They all have CC, tones of DMG, easy poke. Some of them even have shield on top of that. So why pick Janna ? Shield is weak. The heal you gotta just stand there as they beat on you. Do almost no DMG.

Until they fix the DMG in the game people will just keep picking DMG sups or big Tanks.

how bout this, tell me why i should play sona, a do-it-all champ that is "easy to use but hard to master" he beginner support champ... why would anyone use her? her move speed, her hp, her ap regen, her damage? why?

sry, who was healthier again?

the real difference is:

lulu does her braindead combo ----> the adc gets to nuke someone

vel does his braindead combo ---> the adc gets nuked by someone that isn´t the other adc

I understand that adcs are in a rough spot right now, but don´t act like enchanters were incredibly well designed when they just favor your position more.

Just remember. Every role is allowed to be played by any other class. Except adc. If an adcs starts going to another role they will be gutted. Then kicked. Then gutted once more for good measure.

I think that getting midlaners to leave the overcrowded midlane queue for the barely populated support queue was a smart move, as it cuts down on average queue times.

It isn't really unhealthy either because it has a tradeoff: sure, mage supports have great damage, but what the team gains in damage from the support it loses in damage from the ADC, because mages cannot buff or peel as much as the traditional supports can.

For example, your ADC could pick Kog if his support is Brand, but then he wouldn't do nearly as well as he would if the support was Lulu.
