Utility Support/Support Items rework suggestion

Honestly, Supports in this game are in a shitty spot, they are either so weak that they get replaced by mages with any kind of Disable ability, or they become overtuned and get a high banrate like Lulu, because they start to get too strong.

Its kinda funny, because in Lulu we actually have the basics on how to do a Support right, but with Mistakes.

A Utility Support Champion should look like this: High base stats! Next to NO scaling! Low Damage output! High Utility!

Like I said, except for the damage part, Lulu is already the perfect example on how to do a utility support. Give her a new passive thats not "You deal damage" and reduce her Q damage, increase the speedbuff on her W and remove the stupid scaling as well on her speedbuff AND her damage, and BAM, perfect utility support. Cant poke the enemy out of lane, but she does what shes supposed to do, cockblock Assassin Champions. "Oh you engaged? No you didnt. Knockup, slow, morph! Oh you want to escape? Nope, true sight on you!" Thats what shes supposed to do, that what she should excel at.

RIOT would have to rework every support Champion, pick ONE THING they are supposed to do, and make them do it super good. Disable Supports should be able to stun/snare on a level that no mage could ever dream of replacing them, but without the damage output. So Mages could still be picked when the goal is to push the enemy out of lane, but no longer because "Well, my stun is better than a supports, so fuck supporters!"

There are MANY possibilities for Utility Supports: Healing, Shielding, Crowd Controling, disengaging, Buffing, Debuffing, VISION, Ressource Management...

Like I said: Pick ONE and stay with it.

At the same rate, Support Items should be changed and we need ALOT of new ones. Items with powerful abilities, but bad stats. Since Supports wont need any stats, they can buy it, but the item would be a bad buy for every other champion, since scaling became so important in this game. The Stats could for example be mana regeneration and life regeneration, but no flat mana, no flat health. and never enough of one to justify it in any other build than support. That way, RIOT could go crazy with the effects. Literally EVERY aspect I named when it came to the different aspects of Support categories could get active Items.

The problem i see with your suggestion is this. As a player I need to be able to be able to do something awesome in the game.

cockblocking assassins is fun but waiting for an assassin to jump on me to cockblock him isn't good enough in the "scale of awesome".

I need to be able to go after the assassin and cock block him out of his lane in the very least. I am ok with the ADC coming with me to do that. Then I am having a good time.

Lulu's utility simply isn't strong enough, if there's no damage component to it.

Easy solution: Go Tank support. Pick Leona, engage hard, permastun and feel awesome.

I was just talking about Utility Supporters. I think Tank supports are a whole different story

You end up with a bunch of strong and undesirable characters available for play. That only a small number of dedicated mains will love and play.

Whenever this group will be dominant people will just not queue up as support and you'll see a bunch of "fuck autofill" posts all over the forums.

Making 0 damage champions is overall a bad idea because all the CC in the world has no value if it is not backed up by something. The better situation is as follows:

"lulu is a thematic counter to Zed. Therefore, with gold parity and a correct build, lulu kills zed. The mechanism by which this happens is the denial of zed's burst as it happens, and outputting sufficient DPS to kill him over the duration of the fight whilst maintaining a mobility and/or vision advantage over zed preventing 'outplays' ".

Lulu has been a mage at some point.

Her kit is still a perfect example of how a utility support should be made.
