Since MMR determines who is in your gamds

Instead of rank, we shouldn't complain if we get bronze players on our team if we're in silver or gold or something higher. Because even though their rank says they suck, their MMR, a more accurate representation of skill level, they are basically even with everyone else since this is what their game data shows.

However, can we not just ASSUME unranked players are automatically Silver 3 material in their first ranked game? I had a friend who basically lost all his placements because he decided jumping straight into ranked after 30 would be a smart idea. He lost most of them and it kind of screwed his teams' games over as well.

I don't care what rank my teammates are that much, because if they're matched with me then they're probably about my skill level. But to assume new players are Silver kind of messed that system up. We have no data on their ranked performance, and most new players who start ranked right away seem to end up in mid bronze.

Tl;dr the MMR system determines your match ups, because the system says they're at that skill level. But we have no data on new players. The system just assumes they're silver when they start. That's bad imo

But... but.... if I think about MMR instead of ranked, I can't blame rito when I lose a game!

Well, what if Joe a Diamond 5 player never plays Normals so his Normal MMR is still that of a fresh level 30.
