PSA: to everyone who thinks support is a braindead ward bot role
It isn't. Support carrying is a thing, although not in your traditional way of "carrying." Support provides utility, not damage, which is something many people don't understand.
Tl;dr at the end. Anyway, to begin...
Utility =/= Damage
We do the warding, the setup for huge plays, stop the carries from dying, watch the map, shot call, and help ADC cs in lane. If you don't do the last three, you're probably not playing the role very effectively.
Support is the role where you're not focused on CS, so you should really be watching the map, warding and sometimes roaming to help mid if they're struggling. It's not a role where you just shit out three wards then use Redemption and call it a day.
Carrying does not necessarily mean you're face rolling the keyboard to 100-0 the enemy, it can mean other things. In a battle, you have the soldiers, then the medics and strategists. A carry's job is generally to instakill the enemy, a support's job is to stop that from happening to your carries.
Jungle and support are the scapegoat roles, because people don't often notice the benefits they provide the team. Nowadays, if you're not 100-0ing the enemy, you're basically "useless." An effective support can make or break a game. Teamfights are where they shine. And since your main worry as a support is map control and defence, you can also shotcall effectively. Supports aren't the ADC's bitch, they're the people who provide everything the carries don't: vision, map control, protection.
Tl;dr is supports provide utility. That's often underappreciated and the power of it is underestimated.
Utility =/= Damage.

requires skill you're high, but then again the support circle jerk is so strong on these boards why does it matter what you just said was basically nonsense
I like to provide damage as well.
