TL;DR for the Dynamic Queue Riot Post

  • We agree dynamic queue standings don’t reflect pure individual skill as well as a solo ladder, but they also don’t inhibit competitive team experiences, and that’s a trade-off we want to make.

I don't want to make that trade off.

  • Right now, a support main has a 95% chance of getting his role, while a mid main has only a 55% shot at getting hers. Different combinations of roles also vary quite a bit. For example, if a mid main is a support secondary, she’ll end up mid only around 16% of the time.

Yeah, isn't that strange? It's almost like it's not a problem with the new champ select but a much deeper issue of no one wanting to be a support or something.

  • Over the next few days we’re rolling out a few adjustments to tackle this problem directly. We’re increasing the likelihood you’ll get your primary role, and we’ll continue working to improve this.

Oh good, you're finally making "primary" and "secondary" have a distinction between them instead of "Randomly give me one or the other". That should have been implemented day one, but I guess better late than never.

  • Delving into the numbers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Plat solos, duos, and trios battle a five-player premade in about 1 game out of 1000 (slightly more often in Plat).

I see. What about how often a team of soloQs and maybe a duo end up against a trio or larger?

  • We’ll be adjusting premade handicaps further to even the playing field between premades and non-premades.

So we should expect a four man premade of silvers to face off against a bunch of solo plats or even low diamonds? That seems to work out well for everyone... except for the plats who won't get much of a thrill from fighting even a highly organized silver team, the silver team that ends up winning more often alone or in smaller groups than with each other due to the handicap, and the one guy that gets matched with that group of four and dragged down with the ship through no fault of his own.

Everybody wins.

  • For example, because mismatches are much more common and much less fair at high MMR, we’ll limit the roughly top 1% of MMR (Diamond 5 or higher) to solo, duos, or trios. League is a team game, and we want dynamic queue to work for every player who wants to compete, but we’re admitting how impossible it is to find fair matches when fully-coordinated professional teams like SKT are out there lurking in the queue.

Yeah, how dare SKT play as a team! You didn't take away the 5v5 queue just so that they could think playing matches together is okay! It's not like they get paid to have teamwork with each other or anything like that.

Secondly, SKT stomping other high elo players is wrong, but a premade stomping low or middle elo players is just fine because it only happens once in a while? Good to know your stance on that.

  • To address position shortages, we’re adding an autofill mode that can trigger when queue times are too long. If players enter queue with excessive estimated wait times, the matchmaker will potentially assign them a role other than the two they selected.

Or to put it in more simple terms: "If queue time is long enough, we'll force somebody to support".

Fuck you solo players
