My only concern with the patch notes

So while I am fully aware that they patch just came out and it will take a while to see if what I think is true, but I am very worried about Katarina in the patch notes.

While I agree that we haven't seen her a in a while (a few patches, at least) and she may be in need of some love, I don't think this Q buff was the way to do it. My reasoning is this: by buffing a mana less champion in this way, you have SEVERELY upgraded her laning phase. "Kat's success cases are defined by her ability to roam." By allowing her Q to deal full damage on every bounce, you have allowed her to push her lane faster and potentially roam, which is Riots idea of what makes a successful Katarina.

But that isn't the only situation that can occur. Katarina being manaless means the ONLY thing gating her harass is cool downs. In previous patches, getting the blade to hit you last was the only way you could manage not getting poked out of lane over and over again. The blade is pretty much guaranteed to hit an opponent and now it is going to deal full damage. Now, Katarina will be able to zone her opponent MUCH harder and allow her to straight up win the lane independent of her roaming potential.

I don't think we will go 3 days before katarina is perma ban because there is no way to deal with her. Just a friendly prediction; we'll see what happens.

It was probably due to community outcry, everyone on the boards and reddit were begging for Kat buffs. I couldnt go a day without finding a post along the lines of:

"Dear Riot, Katarina is so much fun to play against. I wish i could be bursted by 3 abilities in an instant every game. Her way to have no resource cost and low cooldowns is awesome. With that being said i havnt seen her in almost a year and im worried that she wont be resetting her way to penta kills and permaban statues again. Could you, Riot, please buff katarina in the wrong ways in order to break her?

With Love, Brandon"

Those kind of threads were popping up every day. Its about time Riot finally responded.

Yeah I have to agree on this. Riot just broke Kat and they don't even realize it which is pretty sad.

Kat is a contradiction balance wise, she is impossible to balance for low end play and high end play.

Her kit and play style will never allow her to be played in the LCS because a team of 5 high level players can very easily stop her at every turn. However at the solo q level where teams are very uncoordinated, the only thing stopping a Kat from doing well is her lane opponent. Her kit is a lot of times too much to handle at lower levels of play as she can kill multiple people in under a second.

These buffs are to me obviously too much and I don't plan on letting her be played to find out. Shes already a perma ban for me.

Yea. If I sat down to do the math, I would be able to tell how much of a damage buff this was. Just quickly, I believe that each bounce lowered the damage by 15%. That means that the second target took 85% damage, the third took 70% damage, the fourth 55% damage, the fifth 40% damage.

All of that is gone now. She just got an effective 150% damage boost on a spammable ability with no resource that she doesn't have to aim. BIG problem.
