"It's that time of the game, LET'S ALL GROUP!"

One of the most irritating things about being stuck in low ELO is the "strategy" 99% of players always no matter what will say we have to do.... GROUP!

Are we ahead? Group!

Are we behind? Group!

Do we have a good teamfighting comp? Doesn't matter, GROUP!

Like I seriously just do not get why people will almost always just auto default to this mentality! I mean for some examples, you're playing in a full pick comp against a full teamfighting comp and you're ahead from early ganks and from picking people off in side lanes and split pushing as 1-3-1 or 1-4-0. But in low ELO, instead of just continuing this trend for an easy win everyone always says "LET'S ALL GROUP MID!" Almost every single freakin match, and you know what happens in this scenario? You just handed the enemy team their chance to catch back up on a silver platter. When you group you're also essentially forcing the enemy team to group, and MANY of the current team comps being run are TEAMFIGHTING COMPS! So if you do not have one of those, grouping all mid WILL NOT GET YOU ANYTHING!

Another, you're ahead but don't have much siege and the enemy team has a mid lane Ziggs and top lane Rumble. Obviously you'd want to keep splitting and forcing the enemy team to split up and then working on catching them while they move up separately, or you force them all to one lane while you have someone with TP or a fast tower killer split push. But not in low ELO! "JUST GROUP AND FORCE IT DOWN!" Bitch you can't, they have wave clear and anti diving ultis! Doesn't matter though, these scrubs only have one gear that turns in their heads, and it's "GROUP AS FIVE NO MATTER WHAT!"

One more, you're behind, your lanes all lost and your opponents have a stronger teamfight then you do, or maybe they don't but they still have a decent one at least. Basically in this situation if you all group to try and force something the enemy team will also be forced to group and just WRECK your beehole since they're already ahead. In this situation you just want to stall, ward up and farm, then catch any body out of position and no matter what you do, do not engage in a full 5v5! But once again, in low ELO the ONLY strategy these kids can think of is "WELL JUST GROUP AND FORCE AN OBJECTIVE!"

I seriously just do not get it, even when I was first getting into this game I understood this utterly basic concept of LoL strategies, but for some unknown reason people can only ever think of ONE of them. Does not matter how the match is going or either of their teamcomps, everyone on both teams will almost always just auto default to "GROUP 5 MID!" I've been forced to stop playing my main Rengar just cause I need to play a more teamfight oriented champ since everyone and their mothers just opts straight into this bronze as shit mentality, which is annoying cause my ranked team plays more of a pick comp most the time and it works out perfectly fine, if not better since less people know how to react to it. But in soloyoloQ it doesn't matter, you will without a doubt always be grouping as 5 mid.......

grouping is a viable strategy for ANY composition. The difference is in the execution of your grouping and the teamfights.

No, it's not.

Problem is, people say Group! but have no focus as to what to accomplish.

This just ends up throwing whatever lead you had because you're sitting mid while two other laners are farming/catching up.

I have never seen someone say lets group without giving a good reason, like ok we have a good team comp, but we are playing for picks. lets group and finish, then bronzies say I!

Rather than grouping being the primary issue, I believe wave control and rotating into objectives is a bigger problem. If you are ahead from several picks, there is a point where you reach critical mass and can power through. However, to do so, you want to control the side waves and force them in at the same time, then rotate to the tower they can't defend since you will cut them off if they do. You can also group when dragon is spawning to corral the enemy team, then rotate into the dragon, or control vision at baron and then make picks as 5 when they are forced to check.

I think it's the inability to perform these secondary tasks that makes grouping ineffective for people.

Frankly, the biggest problem in low ELO is that my split pushers just... don't split push fast enough. They'll get distracted by jungle mobs, pick a bad lane to push, or trade an outer turret for the inhibitor.

From all of my games at low ELO, time and again, experience has shown me that if we're not grouped 5v5, the enemy team will simply steamroll us 4v5 while our split pusher gets nothing of value for the trade.

MAYBE this guy will be different than the last 50-60 games. But, odds are? He won't be. He's just going to be another guy who is grossly out of position and unable to help us get dragon while he farms two minion waves and backs or refuses to just run up and tank a turret that has 100 HP left while he's at full. So, until I get to a higher ELO with people who can split push intelligently, I'm going to push for us to group where, at least, he's not going to actively hurt our chances of winning instead of only minorly increasing them through a weak team fight presence.

Part of the reason for this is that people make selfish picks, usually my team having two or three people who want to split push, which rarely leaves us 5v4, but more like 5v2, as one person is perpetually at base/out of position, while the other two slow farm minion waves. Get me better split pushers to create pressure on the map, and I'll trust them to do it.

This is why. You can't trust a bronze splitpusher either to get any worthwhile pressure or objectives OR to not die. And your team probably doesn't have enough vision to go for picks, maybe not even enough to keep track of whether 2 people have left the siege to go after the splitpusher. That's why grouping is the default. Splitpushing is an advanced strategy that most pickup groups are not capable of executing competently, so it's better not to try. You'll just defeat yourself in detail.

It does annoy me when you get the mid inhib and people STILL want to group MID, though. At that point if dragon or baron aren't up you should be grouping in another lane to take another inhibitor or at least whatever turrets are left there, not pushing into their base to fight 5v5 under their nexus turrets.

Then they yell at you for not taking care of the splitpusher that you warned them about starts to take inhibitor towers. Every time i go to stop a splitpush my team automatically starts throwing crap at me for not grouping with them.
