Very much not disappointed in my purchase.
Bought Season 1 Eternals for Orianna. Played one match. After game "Clockwork Shield" displayed 3,476 damage mitigated by E throughout the match. Now, for ages i've been complaining about how the after game stats don't tell you ally damage mitigated and instead tell you ally damage shielded, which omits some of Orianna's shield's value due to it having passive resistances which aren't counted. So when I saw that number I thought "But is that actually the amount mitigated or did they just add self shielding and ally shielding together and count shields given rather than damage actually blocked?" So I watched the replay and manually counted the self-shielding. 1,103 damage's worth of shields to self in 6 casts throughout the game. Added to my "ally shielding" (2,643) that's 3,751, greater than the amount "Clockwork Shielding" reports.
Conclusion? Riot Games actually coded the Eternal to truly track damage mitigated by the ability throughout the match, rather than taking the easy way out and counting shields cast. The Clockwork Shielding Eternal has finally given me that stat i've always wanted: the actual amount of protecting Orianna's E does throughout a match instead of the amount of shield value provided (even if that shield value went to waste). Thanks Riot Games, for going all out and coding this one feature the way it should be coded.
Now the big question is "Does Ally Shielding count self-shielding?". Seemed like I shielded myself less than half as much as I did allies that match so 29% (what the math comes out to if I assume they are included) of total shielding seems more likely than 41% (what the math comes out to if I assume it's not included).
