Yeah, she's the strongest mid by far - even in competitive. I've said it for the last two months (with stats to back it up) but only now they realize....

She's always been a problem, I don't know why she sparked up all of a sudden. Did she get buffs that i'm not aware of?

No, but Viktor got indirectly nerfed with Rylai's changes, as did many other mids, Syndra got a mild nerf, LB got gutted, Corki got gutted etc. Jungle also got nerfed pretty hard so her mediocre lanining phase is less abusable.

Why ban Ahri? Ban kassadin. He is shirtless showing that man chest off, warps everywhere with no care in the world, just as weak early game damage, an anti magic shield, interrupts channels with a point and click ability.

I get that she's strong, but ban worthy? She's quite easy to deal with. She's far from having as much burst as other assassin. Being safe is her selling point.

But i guess that depends on which champion you play? I understand that she does counter a few immobile mages.
