Alright Riot, I've had enough.

BBag0hxULG··42 votes·3,181 views

I've been playing League of Legends like someone would practice an religion. I get on every day, play some games, and even chip in a buck or two here and there when something sparks my interests. I remember a point in time where the game was just enjoyable to play, when I didn't know a thing about it and would build 6 NLR on Teemo. Well, there comes a time and place where one just cannot take anymore of it. The utter frustration every game puts me through, it's literally hurting me mentally to where I'm developing slight cases of depression. Here's why:

Every game is just the same.

This could mean a multitude of things, whether it being that you just grow old of a champion, or just your teammates are un-fun to play with. Out of the past 20 games, I've had 3 legitimate teams who didn't troll. I got me a Janna ADC, Shaco support, a Zyra jungle, Lee sin support, Urgot support, Draven support. I mean, the list just goes on and on, and it's mainly due to this blissful autofill feature, the "solution to our long queue times", when in fact the queue times are actually longer due to all the dodging. It's making the game into a literal anarchic state of mind because people just do not want to simply follow the rules when it designates you into a role you do not wish to partake on. I also don't see why it's necessary in lower elo, when 70% of the League player base is Silver under. I never had a problem with 8 minute queue times, and i'm pretty sure, no one else did either. Anyways, I'm sure you're all tired of the "get rid of the autofill" rant all over the forums, that's not what I'm here to point across. The thing i'm trying to point across, is simply this.

People get away with WAY to much.

Going back to my previous statement with the meta-mancers, playing Urgot support should just be a punishable offense by itself. No, this does not mean you can't have fun in normals, but when you're in the presence of 4 other dedicated players who are trying to climb, it shouldn't be allowed. I cannot fathom why someone would pick that, besides being intoxicated, trolling, being rebellious, or just straight up trolling. Sure it might be fun, but ranked isn't about having fun. It is simply there for competitive gameplay, nothing less. Another issue is that people get away with inting far more than they should as well. The problem here, is that it's kinda impossible to detect looking at just a score. People could simply argue that the player was "having a bad game", when infact he never grouped up with the team, refused to partake in any activity, and would just sit top lane. Inting doesn't just mean "oh, our Veigar is 0/12 by 5 minutes", it also means intentionally losing the game, which is more of what actually happens. Reporting isn't really doing anything about this, because it, to my understanding, requires consistent reports for it to even come up as an "actual issue". One is allowed to intentionally feed 1 game out of 20 and they can get away with it, which I find bogus. I shouldn't have to send a support ticket in, when the fact of the matter is this.

The report system is shit

Just as simply as that, it doesn't do what it's designed to do. I miss the tribunal, a time where actual RIOTERS reviewed the context, instead of it just being automated. I've actually tested this out on a account before. It simply works as this. Out of 3 games within a 10 game period of being toxic, you get a 10 game chat restriction, if you follow up within 5 games, it's a 25, then you get a 14 temp ban suspension. If you continue, you're out. No more warnings after that. It's like i'm playing baseball. RIOT earned it's first BILLION DOLLARS in 2014, but they can't hire enough people to check logs? They can't afford to have people watch games where a player got 3 or more reports in the same offense? They can't afford to have an actual support team without having a bot send the same message over and over? To where 3 or more "people" are sending me the EXACT same message? I sense laziness right there. It must be nice to have a fucking computer do everything for you.

In conclusion

I've just had enough with League, I've had my 7 years of it. RIOT just seems to not give a shit about their community, I might be wrong on that, but I think I have the authority to say it, for I've witnessed it far to many times. It's a business, after all, all they care is money. It's like what my favorite song by Architects says: "If the money's on the table, they don't think twice". Anyways, i'm taking my leave from this game completely, until RIOT decides to pull up their big boy pants, and takes grasp of their company again. Until then, thanks for the years.

-Zahreik.

Excuse me, Zyra jungle is super viable...

Any sites i could take a peak at/tips for this?

######Or are you joking?

I hope my upvoters did not get me wrong, but I'm not.

I don't have any sites, but I played her there few times, then it stopped making me fun because I suck at jungle time management and I couldn't use her full potential there, but when I get autofilled jungle, she's still my go-to (as everywhere else) pick.

Basically just stack seeds at Blue, let plants always tank most of the damage at every camp.

Blue -> Gromp -> Wolves -> Red -> gank top/Krugs

Build obviously Echoes, then if ahead Liandry's or Guise, if behind Rylai's, then the other one, then as you need or as you're used to.

The most problematic things are successful invades and counterpicks such as extremely meta AD junglers like Kha, Rengo, Heca, Vi...

KenEH1 votes

I think the nerfs to her don't make her as you say "supuer viable" but she's still decent. She was a god at one point though.

Which ones? The autoaiming on champs? The others are like an year old... Idk it might only be that I play her with ease of moving my tongue cuz my experience, but I don't find myself struggling more than ever before...

You wouldn't have 8 minute ques. You'd have 20 minute Ques, those similar to Team Builder Days, or even longer, because no one wants to play support. Hell, FFxiv has to rewards Tanks (The lesser played role in the game) with their own exclusive mounts to encourage people to play them. Autofill is a nessecary evil, and could use some clean up, but we have it for a reason (Garen-teed roles)

I once won a game with a Nasus Bot, with myself as Thresh ADC. It was an accident, but it turned out rather amazing. You look at the Non-meta Cases, and pick out only the worse case scenarios that you yourself have experienced with it. For the most part, Urgot support makes sense. You reduce damage, provide harass in lane that forces them away from farm, you build decently tanky, and you can pick out people out of position with your ult.

If he doesn't do well, oh well, at least he tried, but there is a huge difference between trying and int feeding, one being they accept advice from team members Instead of being an asshole to their uncommon pick, maybe try talking with him to understand how it works, so you can lane with him better. This is a team game, communication is a two way street.

The system that you say, protects the people who int feed once in every 20 games, is also the same system that protects people from having a bad game from getting punished for having a bad game. Honestly, if you're only griefing in 5% of the games you play, that's really not that bad. The system may catch on to you if you do it consistently enough, but in the large term scale, imagine this. If you had 19 pleasurable games, what's so bad about one bad one? Should you chuck an entire tree of apples because of one bad one?

Except they do check logs themselves. The way the system works is that those who are reported are flagged for review. The game is checked, and is perhaps run by some filters, but this is where they see the difference between people just cussing a lot, and being assholes. They have members literally on the boards, with helpful smiteful members like Riot Tantrum and NAkyle, who regularly talk with players about how their cases are what they are. What you described is how the punishment system works, not the report system. If you were curious, I'm more than sure Tantrum or NAkyle would love to have a talk with ya about how the system works.

Honestly, all the problems you listed, aren't Riot's fault. To me, you sound like a conceded little sport, who got upset over a few bad games, and is trying to push that feeling at Riot, instead of just dealing with it. You act like there is some injustice against the community, some problem in the system, when the system has been working accurately and correctly for years (check out how many people try to get their rightful bans overturned in Player Moderation boards), with few outliers.

So bye.

Also, you've been playing for 7 years, but your account is level 20?

Tbh (might just be me) but i get angry at troll people who choose a champ that doesn't seem suited for the role. BUT they end up a carry or 2nd carry to my team and we win. Honestly i dont know what to think anymore but if people are trolling without knowing what they're doing it's definitely annoying. Also might i mention that this only happens sometimes to me so this is just my personal experience.

Matchmaking in general aswell as snowballing have gotten completely out of control those last seasons, season 7 easily marks the highlight of this shitshow. What's even worse is how they keep promoting problematic champs by giving them skins nonstop whereas someone like Cass remains completely ignored by their art- and skinteam for more than 4 years now. That's simply appalling.

I do believe autofill is garbage, but you are asking for too much here. You can't force people not to play what they want to play, you can only play to your best skill. It never was and never will be acceptable for Riot to pick and chose what champions players chose to play, whether it's trolling or not.

And for every 1 amazing support main theres 100 people who dont want to play it. The game is inherently toxic because theres a "mandatory" role nobody wants to do.

You can tell anyone to kill himself and to jump off a bridge (in the game, and in the post game screen aswell), and not get banned. That's pretty easy to prove. When you get flamed incredibly hard, write the summoner's name, and check it on op.gg on a regular basis. Most of the time, hey, still playing, still fine :-) SIIICCCKKKKKK reporting system.

Sounds like you're just hating on offmeta. Not complaining about trolls, but complaining about people who understand the real point of a videogame. Complain about actual problems, like the people who build mobi-boots to run from fountain to mid repeatedly, and the RQ-ers, and the people who use the chat for nothing but insults.

RIOT earned it's first BILLION DOLLARS in 2014, but they can't hire enough people to check logs?

There are 100 MILLION monthly League players, dude. That means there are 100 million people who play at least one game of League a month. Between the people who play once a month and the people who play 15 games a day, it's pretty reasonable to assume an average of at least 10 games per month for those 100 million players.

With 10 players per game, that's a total of at least 100 million games per month, and an average of over 3 million games per day. 3 million per day.

How many games do you think get a report for chat-related offenses? 5%? 10%? I wouldn't be surprised if it were close to 20%. Even assuming it's just 5% of games, that means you're asking Riot to manually review 150,000 games every day.

Assume it takes a person 10 minutes on average to review one game's chat logs and come to a verdict. That means 6 games in one hour, or 48 games in an 8 hour day (round to 50). Riot would need to hire 3000 people to review all the games your asking them. That's more than the current number of employees Riot has in total. Just for a low estimate of 5% of games getting reports.

Riot has to automatically process reports. It is impossible for them to do it manually.

Poske1 votes

In your opinion is Yasuo ADC ok pick?

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

There is nothing wrong with your argument in terms of this is how you feel. But you make a ton of presumptions about everything, and the one that stood out is when you refer to “they can’t hire enough people to check logs?”

Neither of us knows the sheer amount of logs they would receive that would have to be reviewed, read, and then understood, I concede that the tribunal used to be the process.

But based on the number of people who play this world wide? Reading logs? They couldn’t hire enough people. Nor, do I think in my humble opinion (if they actually read each log word for word which is required if you’re looking for context) not to mention have experts to determine turn of phrases for all the languages that would be reviewed, as well as but no limited to all the culture contexts, references, I mean you get the idea right?

I can tell you based on direct personal experience (Digital Forensic Examiner) who has conducted many digital investigations that reading through logs and understanding the context is a very time consuming task, when it’s 1 or 2 people. And I’m not talking about the full investigation, I’m talking strictly reviewing logs and making observations and knitting context together based on evidence.

Now how the actual Tribunal used to worked and what they looked at etcetera? Well I have no idea, which was before my time. However, I’d assume they didn’t have multiple people hired just to consume chat logs.

I get it, you had bad games. But I challenge you to find a better system. For it’s been my experience with many different games over the years, that this is the best system in terms of balance a report system ect.

I know many of you long timers won’t agree and that’s fine, I’m a new comer to this game. And while I find many things frustrating, it’s scores better than what I’ve encountered elsewhere with other games in the past.

I hope your things turn around ! Hang in there!

I'm slightly conflicted on inting because there's a big difference between "Im supp temmo 0/12/0 by 10 minutes lolol" and "this game is clearly over but my team won't surrender so I don't care if I die anymore." I've never been reported for the first, but I have been reported many, many, many times for the second.

  1. Think of something stupid that may work.

Largest portion of the community are bronze and silver from my understanding. Decisions are made based on the smaller minority groups (gold and above). So the largest amount of influence is based on the smallest groups. Kind of like our history where the largest amount of wealth is controlled by the smallest percentage of the population. It's funny because in our history, bloody coups and revolution were the only historical instances where the center of power made a dramatic shift. Then the institution as it stands in a snapshot in time is destroyed and rebuilt. Now apply this logic to LoL. The largest majority eventually realizes the same thing and rebels (in this case, likely leaving, refusing to buy rp or whatever) and the institution (LoL) crumbles as a result. Riot as a company can't possibly not be aware of this. They just realize that their game is crack and the plebs will continue to smoke it. There is no plausible threat to any regime within the company so long as people still buy RP and still play even while complaining. Welcome to your bed.

KenEH1 votes

It would suck for Riot's bottom line, but if the trash ranked players would all leave and we only kept the unranked and the gold and above players, it would do wonders for the community. Riot wouldn't have to put any focus on the willfully brain dead players.

Too may people here talk like they know how to make a massively successful game like it's easy to do. It's not and very ignorant to assume such things.

FreeVolibear1 votes

Right... so all bronze and silver are trash. Thanks for your very helpful and non toxic reply.

ShiftyMcGee1 votes

I both agree and disagree with some of your points.

I feel that in normals, people should be able to try non-meta things, even if they fail, as long as they aren't truly trolling and throwing/failing on purpose. There were 2 somewhat "infamous" cases in recent months of people playing a "support-counter-jungle" role with Singed and Nunu, and they got in trouble, even though they were successful with it. I don't think that's very fair, because even though people hated them for it, they were on to something good, and it won their teams the games more often than it didn't. In other words, just because the majority of people think it's a bad playstyle, should that person not be allowed to play that way? I feel the difference between trolling/throwing and "breaking the meta" is found in the results. Sure, Riot employees can be called on to investigate a player, that's only fair. But if the players are actually succeeding with their unorthadox choices more often than not that definitely shouldn't be something to punish.

I mean, let's be honest here - in the early years of the game, players would complain about their team-mates not helping their team, until it became Meta. Specifically, I'm talking about jungling and split-pushing. Is it really a bad thing for a Nasus or Trynd to stay in the lane and farm/split, even when the other team-mates are all "HELP US MID DUDE, WTF"? No, it's not, because it's a legitimate playstyle that works great, even if the other 4 players would prefer a meat-shield in mid.

I feel like you only get into the grey area of "punish vs not punish" when players have a track record (official review of games by Riot employee or "tribunal" or whatever) of losing their team games by trying things that don't work out. I don't think you should punish people if they try things that DO work out (like how Jungling was created, then a jungler counter-jungling, and now-days a support counter-jungling)

Any blatant feeding/AFKing, which should be pretty obvious during the reviews, should in turn be an obvious punishment. There's probably a lot of this that goes unchecked, and for these cases, I really feel that there needs to be a reward for the individuals who report those that deserve being reported, in addition to a system for punishing those who deserve it.

Allowing/enabling the player-base to be part of the solution might be just a pipe dream though :(

RavenKouhai1 votes

Is everyone on the boards in wood 5? I'm a bronze baddie and I haven't played with an intentional feeder/troll in ages, and I never even play ranked. If you're getting shit games like that, it's probably because your account is level 20 and every game is half newbies, half other smurfs. That's another issue in itself.

The report system is fine. More than half the time when I report a troll I get the "Someone you reported has been punished" message. Maybe your reports have less weight because you report everyone who picks what you deem the wrong champion for their role?
