Is Frozen Heart a little bit too cheap?

item 3110 2450g

100 armor, 400 mana, 20% cdr attack speed of nearby enemies reduced by 15%

I suppose for the stats given it's not like a 3k cost item; the item has no HP, and while mana is nice it's not a high value stat late game. But I think the low gold cost is a remnant of the fact that this item used to be unpopular in previous metas.

Tank items are intended to be cheaper than carry items, part of the design that tanks are supposed to powerspike mid game, but ultimately late game carries are the kings, but compared to most other tank items except thornmail it is pretty cheap.

item 3075 2100g item 3068 2600g item 3143 2850g item 3065 2750g item 3190 2800g item 3102 2750g item 3026 2800g (lol) item 3025 2900g item 3022 3300g item 3083 2500g item 3800 2500g

If you look at a lot of problematic tank champions in recent metas, they utilize frozen heart very efficiently.

Sion Hecarim Maokai for example

I will admit, I suppose I am a biased Gnar player (I'm halfway through making this thread and I realize how I may be biased :o). I'm not proposing a deletion of Frozen Heart or anything tho. Ya, a "nerf" to frozen heart would be a stab at the tank class... it would slightly tip things more toward bruisers again maybe.

What do you think about Frozen Heart and tanks?

Tank Items are horrible gold inefficient in this game as they are. Compared to any Damage Item, be it for AD or AP, tanks always had the worst gold to stats ratio.

Just for your items: Thornmail: 95.2% Sunfire Cape: 80.7% Randuins Omen: 95.9% Spirit Visage: 108.6% Locket: 87.62% Banshees Veil: 96.73% Guardian Angel: 71.4% Iceborn is NOT a tank item Frozen mallet: 89.3% Warmogs Armor: 85.3% Glory: 102.4%

Sure you can argue "But they have effects!" To that I say: Rabadons Deathcap is 102.8% gold efficient WITHOUT effect, Bloodthirster 113.7%, Black Cleaver 104.67%, Zhonyas Hourglass 109.4%, all WITHOUT effect!

Frozen heart is one of the only items that give tanks a good gold to stats ratio. And its mostly because of the MANA it gives, the tank stats are still terrible for the price. Plus its basicly the only Item (ok, now we also have Glory) that tanks can pick up to get any mana...

So by your own admission Frozen Heart is the most gold efficient tank item. According to LoLWiki its gold efficiency is a whooping 140.1%, with a total gold value of 3433g. It actually goes on to say besides for stack items it is the most gold efficient item in the whole game. And the funny thing is, if you remove the 800g value from the mana and leave the armor and CDR, it still has a gold value of 2633g, which is more than 2450g (giving it a gold efficiency of 107% according to my calculation). So it's not an issue an item is miles above in value compared to other items of its class? How can you bring up all those worthless numbers and ignore this anyways? Not that discussing gold efficiency has much value. On the field, as your character scales with the different stats you buy it changes the actual combat effectiveness of other stats you buy (you buy more armor, hp is worth more; more ad? attack speed/crit gains value).

And do I even need to bring up Frozen Hearts unique passive? It's perhaps the best tank item passive, especially when rushed, shutting down any hope of auto attack reliant champions of killing you.

I actually really like frozen heart as an item, but I think it could be possibly a little bit too good recently.

No. This would kill Riven. She is a useless champion already so I'm forced to build full tank in order to do something. Please stop nerfing riven.

Fine, let them nerf Frozen Heart if they buff EVERY OTHER tank item to at least 100%
