Why don't silences stop Kalista from jumping?

Just an honest question. Silence is a pretty balanced CC in my opinion. You can still move and auto attack during it. But it is really sad and unfair seeing a Kalista still being able to kite and dodge other cc's with her passive while silenced. Then when the silence is gone have fun getting rended and destroyed as usual..

Do you mean why, from a gameplay perspective? Because her passive is not a channeled ability, and thus is not interrupted by a Silence.

If you mean why, as in "BUT I WANT IT TO" then you're out of luck

I wanted to know why as a gameplay aspect. I also want it to actually prevent her from jumping around. Seeing as silence is the major counter to mobility. Every other champion can only move and auto attack but meh its Kalista...

All Silence does is prevent a Champion from using Abilities for the duration. Passive speed boosts, such as those granted by Jinx's "Get Excited" when she gets a kill, or boosts like Mini-Gnar's boost on his 3rd Auto Attack, are not spells that need to be cast, and thus are not affected by Silences. Slows also won't do much to Kalista, since the distance of her hops and the frequency of them are not changed by her movement speed. However Snares and, of course, Stuns will keep her in place.

Even if it did prevent her from jumping there are very few champs that have silence. There are only six champions with silence. The odds of anyone of these champs always being picked against kalista is very low (none of them are super great right now except maybe cho and blitz), so even if the silence did stop her from jumping odds are you won't be playing with a silence in the game.

Her jumps aren't spells.

But, yea, her passive needs a better means of counterplay than it currently has.

Easiest way is to make her jump speed affected by slows.

So if Nasus withers her, she'll be jumping 1 mph. Same if she jumps through a Thresh box.

Here's a question.

If she's blinded, does she still jump?

Silence I understand.

Blind? Not so much.

She can probably still jump.

I don't think silences are or were ever intended to stop passives. By your logic, to stay consistent, Anivia shouldn't be able to enter her egg if killed while silenced, Teemo's passive poison would stop applying, Darius wouldn't cause bleeding with attacks and abilities, etc. It just doesn't really make sense and would be too much for what the cc of silencing is meant to do. I can see why you think for Kalista it should stop the jumping since her "passive" is so easily seen "actively" influencing her gameplay but at the end of the day it technically still is just a passive and shouldn't be turned off via a silence.

Abilities & passives are two different shit, son. You can't silence a passive.

because passives don't get silenced. if zed autos you while silenced he still gets his passive damage, etc.
