You are aware Karma is one of the strongest supports right now, correct? Her innate power combined with mikaels/ardent/grail pushed her over the top. It's not a random nerf, it's a well justified one.

She sits under 49% win rate for both support and mid lane.

One of the big draws of LoL is that it's a hardcore game where skill plays a huge roll, allowing a significant amount of time and effort dedicated to mastering the game to really pay off.

Balancing the game to offset people sucking doesn't make sense.

Especially considering the pro scene has wide-reaching implications for the meta game.

Karma makes botlane ungankable with her speed boost, massive shield, damage and CC. She needs nerfs.

I bet you he would too. If a champ that unhealthy (Urgod) gets played a lot in LCS they're OP as shit or something is terribly terribly wrong. Same thing would happen with old Poopy or Trynd.

Balancing has never been made on the basis of the majority of players. There are a few outliers that are kept low because they are 'noob stompers'. But for the most part, the game is balanced around plat+. The idea is that at lower levels the differences in win rate can't be attributed to the champions themselves because they don't have the ability to use them well enough. They can't kite as well for instance. Consider if Azir was balanced to be 50% win rate for say a Bronze 5 -- He would be ludicrous and game warping for the high ranks. However, at higher ranks the differences in win rate are less likely to be due to mechanical fuck-ups and whatnot and closer to an 'ideal' or 'true' state of the champ. There are a few other considerations too, for instance, it's generally better to have a champ with terrible win rate than one with massive win rate. Urgot does do much damage to the game because he is barely played and barely wins. Hope that sheds some light on the decisions behind the game balance.
