Am I the only one who had more fun this pre-season?

I feel like even though damage creep is rising, I actually have more control as a solo laner and more access to creative uses for these runes.

When at top lane, I don't feel as though I'm put in a situation where the game progression is instantly shifted by who saves their TP for counterganking bot lane. If I play a tank for instance, I can actually take advantage of TP ganks I cant help with on bot-side thanks to the demolish rune.

Grasp of the Undying is hella fun for bruiser-esque cc champions like Nautilus/Chogath/Leona top so even with CD cooldowns I can still make extended trades against duelists and back off without absolutely getting stomped

As far as the predator tree goes, on my other account I had a BLAST abusing predator udyr/hecarim for some sweet early cheese ganks. Taste of Blood warwick can make his comeback factor even more ridiculous in duels.

Aery in the sorcerer tree gives various other mid laners alot more power. Midlane is changing from using foolproof unholy trinity Orianna Syndra Taliyah to a wider range of champions like Xerath Katarina ..

Glacial Augment on Thresh, etc. Regardless of the seemingly one-sided games, kleptomancy, and blue essence changes, the game feels like with a few fixes, it would be on the right track.

Top lane is full of ranged champs who bully melee because of the lack of early game defensive stats.

Mid lane is full of people who 1 shot on a rengar-level

Jungle is either an assassin like rengar/kha/shaco etc. abusing dark harvest or a tank that ends up doing nothing because it's impossible to be tanky anymore

Bot lane is just supports beating up each others adc for the first 20 minutes

Preseason sucks and has always been awful. It's the point in time where Riot throws all their hard work and balancing for the previous season out the window despite them finally getting close to a mostly balanced game and ruin it with random RNG bull or stupidly cheese ways for someone to snowball and be unstoppable. (usually both)

Really? I assume you mean champions with primarily ranged abilities or are ranged AA based. If that's the case then the ranged champions that actually stand out areKayle Heimerdinger Jayce Teemo, you can practically abuse Kayle alot in lane. The Heimerdinger matchup now depends on baiting his abilities when pretending to take a turret or two.

iirc the hot midlaners right now areMalzahar TwistedFate Katarina playrate + winrate wise.

Isn't that what bot lane is meant to be like? I think I prefer that than just playing passive/reactive supports just so I can deny a lane gank. I think a more lane focused game is much better than the failed emphasis on teamwork like rng dragons, bot lane turret changes, ardent, etc. Until they can find a way to actually promote teamwork in a healthy and balanced way, then by all means it can change.

I am certainly enjoying this pre-season. Are there problems? Absolutely. But compared to past pre-seasons, this has been one of the best so far. And as you mentioned, top lane a lot better. I don't feel nearly as useless on top as I did last year, which I greatly appreciate. Top lane was my favorite role before last season, and it is looking to become my favorite again.

I've become so bored of the game that I've gone from playing 3-4 games daily (even on work days) to solely doing one coop vs AI game a day for the free win bonus. Game became far too snowballey for my taste, would rather spend my time on something like pubg where I'm not shackled to 4 idiots for 30+mins and can bail out whenever I want to.

Yeah this is the best way to put it. There are probably positive things to say about the new runes, but the changes they made to the game are fucking stupid to the extreme. The nerf to comeback exp ON TOP OF MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COME BACK IN THE FIRST PLACE, is just so dumb. You can't even catch up to their fucking level, now. So whenever my team loses there's no "focus on catching up" you can't. you really cannot.

I like this preseason overall but it probably does have more balance issues than usual. Hopefully other seasons won't have such drastic rune changes but as much as I want a stable and balanced game, I like the direction. Eventually though, League needs to stop causing so much main and unnecessary change every season. Imagine if they changed the rules of basketball or the ball pressure/texture etc. every season. It would really annoy anyone who seriously invested into the game. I don't want a static game either but I want it to just reach a great state for everything and more or less stay there unless something is clearly out of line. I don't want indirectly enforced meta changes or rotations of what's strong any more than I want to play with different pieces every year when I start a chess game.

Preseason has always been a bit of a mess. However in terms of fun factor, this is probs the worst for me.

This is just another pre-season where things generally get wosre. Yes, Riot brings about new change, but it generally is towards one direction, involving:

centering of ADCs Faster game pacing Moment of power Obsoleteness of top lane ( I REALLY hope they can address this sometime, though idk how) Snowballiness (they're working on it)

I don't mind Riot's direction at revamping runes, they just need to make sure champs who couldn't fully abuse such runes can still have options.

Preseason is when live servers become PBE status gameplay-wise. Almost everyone is playing and testing shit out, so of course shit is going to be a massive clown fiesta. If anyone remembered the keystones that were introduced in s6, no one would have known Thunderlord's Decree was in obvious need of attention balance-wise until after we have endured weeks of clown fiesta in our games.

In terms of how one-sided games can become, that actually isn't anything new. What Riot can try doing is to cut some slack on the "free damage" that the runes give, or buff base stats a bit more, especially on mages.

Almost all tanks got a +20 armor as a base stat, and we all wonder why they have been at the top of the food chain in terms of winrates...

I didn't know my main Taliyah was a part of the "Foolproof Unholy Trinity" hell I haven't seen Taliyah recently besides myself.
