Why the current system of warding needs to change (@RiotRep? :))

With the removal of stealth wards, and the "promotion" of trinkets, Riot effectively made the map darker.

Yes I know everyone gets "more" "free" wards, but the without a sightstone-esque item it's extremely hard to keep wards on the map. The only way to do so effectively is with pink wards, but we all know their drawbacks.

That's why the blue trinket is so fudging good right now. It can allow, if played smartly, to provide a similar level of vision as a season or two ago. This is my personal experience playing since the update. Plus once you get a full build you can no longer buy a pink ward which limits you further.

If Riot wanted to give more tools to teams for closing out games (minion splitpushing), then why did you remove the ability to dominate vision across the map? That was the most effective way to snowball and end a match. The wards that are placed down are easier than ever to sweep and get rid of in their limited numbers, which I've found for the first time ever since the preseason update, the map has been mostly dark for most of the game in most every game I've played.

Without stealth wards, you are forced to wait on cooldowns to fill in your ward gaps. If they get your ward early, there's nothing you can do but sit in the dark.

My question Riot, was this planned? Because this has definitely been something me and my friends have been noticing lately.

"Dude they caught you so out, why no ward?"

"I had no way to ward, trinket on cooldown and they killed it 10 seconds afterwards Q.Q"

it's not just splitpushing. Laning phase you buy a pink and ward your river and tribush up top. their jungler comes to gank, kills your pink ward and clears your river ward. Now you are FORCED to be in the dark. There's nothing you can do about it.

Yes, they said repeatedly that they wanted to make the map darker in preseason.

I understand, but it's not a bit darker, it's almost always dark because of the ways to sweep wards and the lack of ways to replace them.

Previous warding system led to low interaction games (especially in the competitive scene) and also there was no significant decision making involved in when or where to ward, since you were just filling the map with wards when you were ahead or had enough gold. If they were destroying them, you were just placing new ones without any significant drawback

I just think there should at least be an equal ability to remove wards as to add them. that makes it dynamic and worth going out to ward.

Blue trinket is around one min cd and with wards that dont expire, if you place its wards on safe spots you gonna have vision for a long time. Now if you are asking that you should go into a lane and fill every entrance with green wards, making it impossible for the enemy team to collapse on you then yeah, thats not gonna happen again. Now you will actually have to take risks and use your few wards wisely, or have your teammates nearby

Except they just nerfed blue trinket to have the vision range of reksai. I see no reason to upgrade my trinket beyond that of removing vison...

The whole idea of pinks is that you buy them and place them making sure that you already have one one the map at all times, reaching full build is already going way to far into the game late game always willp unish you with lack of vision because teams are more condensed into one area rather than laning and such
