When we limited the highest MMR players (Diamond V+) to solo, duo, or trio queues, those players had no option to play ranked as a group of five. Even among players below Diamond V, we've heard that people miss the ranked 5v5 queue so we’re bringing it back while hopefully avoiding the low population/high queue time problems the old version had by restricting it to certain time periods. Otherwise, this queue works exactly like the old Ranked 5s did."

I imagine that slowly riot will give way and extend the trio restriction to all of dynamic Q and make it similar to how used to be in that regard, if you want to play with 5 you do ranked 5s, maybe not but this seems like it would be a first step to move in that direction.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to change the integrity of dynamic Q ranked by changing the rules regarding to it based on tier. They are basically saying that if you are not in Diamond+ the integrity of your division is not of great importance...

I am of the opinion that ranked dynamic Q should be solo only, duo at most. I do see the benefit of being able to Q up with 3/4/5 man pre-mades, and even if you can adjust the match making system to a %50 win rate when you match 5 solos against a 5 man pre-made it still won't feel right to me. Maybe a compromise of only pitting 5 mans against other 5 mans, 4 mans against other 4 mans and so on, even if that means longer Q tiems for them. It is the price they pay for Qing as a pre-made.
