Why do you lose LP when you do promotions matches?

Just why? I really do not get it, if you are in promo matches, you should just have to focus on those3 (or5) matches to get to the next division. But right now if you lose you actually lose LP, even if the game doesn't tell you anything. That means that if you lose 2 matches in a row in a promotion series, isntead of being near the top of the division to try again, you end up at 50-60 LP.

That's jsut harsh and stupid. What is the reason behind it? i cannot think of a good one. I think if you fail your promo matches you should be starting again from a fixated 85 or 90 LP (basically 1 win to "try again"), like many other games do.

There is an OCEAN of difference to start again from the middle of the division from the top. It's true that if you win a promo match you regain some of those LP back, but if thats was equal if you win 2 games out of 3 in a row, you should be starting at more then 0 points the next division, but this is not the case so....

Yeah, waiting explanations

I didn't rank up, therefore the system is flawed. Champion reworks also somehow interfere with that too. Don't ask me how though.

Nice logic.

Maybe, you know, because if you lose the promotion you need to prove that you deserve a second chance at promotion? You generally have to lose all 3 games to get to 50-60 LP anyway.

At the end of the day, promotions and LP don't even matter. Everything is determined by your hidden MMR. As such, as long as you keep getting better, you'll naturally rise through the ranks and win promotions. Just ignore promotion games and treat them like any other game.

You do not need to PROVE that you are ready for a promotion if you already got there in the first place, it's just frustrating as hell.

It's no something game changing and it's not needed, while it's true what you say about MMR and stuff i cant help but think that it's just frustrating as a system

A promotion series is a test. If you pass the test, you get promoted. If you fail the test, it means you weren't worthy of the promotion, so you need to prove yourself again. That's as simple as it gets.

Look at it this way. If you re-entered a promotion right away after a loss, and then get promoted, what do you think will happen? Your hidden MMR will be lower than the next division, so you'll be losing more LP than you gain. Chances are you'll get demoted soon afterwards anyway.

Yeah i got that, but don't you think this system needs more clarity?

I don't really see how it could be more clear than it already is. Win series = promoted, lose series = earn another series.
