ARURF custom games disabled due to bug

Heya guys,

During ARURF's run on PBE, we discovered a bug that made the creation of bugged custom games possible (EG: non-ARURF). We investigated and have been trying to fix it, but unfortunately weren't able to in time for this weekend. Rather than blocking the release of ARURF completely (and swap in a backup mode) we've decided to still release it, but just disable custom games.

I'm super sad that we couldn't get this fixed in time. :( I know a lot of streamers, youtubers, etc like to use custom games to play with subscribers. Our diligent PBE testers found it pretty early and let us know, but it's a complex enough bug that we couldn't fix it in time. We even discussed just leaving the bug in there, but the whole point of this weekend's RGM mode is for us to try out ARURF and give it a fair chance to succeed.

I'm pretty confident that if ARURF ever comes around again, we'll have more than enough time to fix this bug. The mode will go live with the usual RGM timings for whichever country you might be in (usually around lunchtime Friday). See you guys in there on NA!

Just my 2 cents

Keep regular URF games for customs. I liked practicing hard champs in URF customs alone -example Lee sin

We can't have normal URF customs then? If possible, I don't really see why that would be a big issue.

Who cares what people do in customs. You should have allowed the "bug" to go through. I mean, if people want to make a custom urf w/ your pick of the litter troll champs, that's what a custom is for!

Are you disabling ALL custom games or just ARURF customs?

So in the past you have had queue times of 7 seconds or less when playing regular URF. To the point the mode was more popular than Ranked.

And now you want to make ARURF a game modes that will suffer the same problem as Nemesis and One for All.

Nemesis and One for All are littered with afk, dodges and high queue times after a day.

Simply because players don't want to play a champion they didn't pick.

Now you could say this about ARAM but at least the player groups knows what they are getting into for more than just 3 days.

Plus you haven't done a thing about smurf accounts, dodges that come with those smurf accounts or low owned champion pools.

Lots of Smurf accounts are just getting what they want in ARURF Mode having such a low population of champs owned. Not really all random.

I hope all of you are filling out the surveys that Riot sends you. I know, I am asking for members of the balancing team to be let go.

The question is: every game, every week, RGM comes out in the morning and is even up sometimes when i play late into Thursday night/Friday morning. So why, on the most highly anticipated game of the month (BYE MILES) you guys are dropping the ball and its been 12 hours of my weekend without it already? I don't want to say this is typical, but its starting to be pretty typical...Amumu

Why disable it , It's just custom . Maybe someone wants to try a specific champion , or wants to test the mode first . We are group of 7-8 so if we are all together we go to custom now we can't [zombie-nunu-tears]

Sooooo what happened to having more than enough time to fix custom games? I loved 1v5ing my bronze friends and couldn't last time. Thought it'd be fixed by now, makes me sad :(

Well, the only difference I saw playing ARURF the few games I did this weekend from old mode is in the ARURF, I couldn't select the champ I wanted to play. There was still a blitz/yi/eve/zed/fizz/ random op champ in every game, normally several op champs on a team. Actually, the winning team was determined by who had more of the said op champs. There wasn't more randomness, there weren't more balanced games. I actually got sick of URF much more quickly because at least in the old mode, I could pick a champ I wanted to play opposed to this bs mode. Even getting stomped is more tolerable, sometimes even fun when it is on a champ you actually enjoy playing. Also, the ARURF came much closer to being like aram in the crappy match ups. Oh well, maybe by the time the next ARURF comes around I will have enough champs unlocked on the aram/arurf account to enjoy it.. I seemed to dodge more than I played last weekend. lol

ARURF was such an insane mistake .... the problem was the op for peopls but all urf did was make it impossible to counter an acvtually have a chance now the matches are just one sided plus you dont get to play somone you want to practice and then also no people can join practice tool? the use for that is gonna run out so quick i dont know how thats not just obvious. urf shoulda been custom games too what in the wor\ld
