Does MMR get hurt by playing games to help rank up new players?

I'm teaching my friend how to play, so we lose a ton against other new players. He's below level 10, I'm a decently ranked player. Is this going to affect my MMR since we lose very frequently against other new players?

I've been told that I should make another account to play with him to protect my main account, but I hate the idea of being a good player on a smurf account. It's not fair to the opponents/matchmaking.

However, I am noticing that when I play games alone, there are less Gold ranked people in my games now... suggesting that the MMR was negatively affected.

I would say the game is detecting that you with high mmr is losing to those with low mmr and they think maybe you're not at the rating you belong and is dropping ur ass :O

time to make a smurf m8

That stinks that I have to do that, I want the IP at least for teaching/mentoring people on how to play. It stinks you should be punished for using your real account. There should be a way to Disable MMR Gains/Losses when doing such a thing.

I also don't think it's fair to the other team for me to be on a smurf account because they we would definitely crush them every time.
