Poppy Ult - Untargetable Issue

Poppy's ult makes targets untargetable. This causes some problems, and hurts your team a lot. It also seems like a bug according to the description. It could just be a typo, but let me explain:

Poppy has two flavors of the ult.
-1- where she charges and knocks champions away across the map. -2- where she just does an in place knockup instead of being knocked away, but less damage.

Riot's ability Descriptions states: "Enemies hit with an uncharged Keeper's Verdict will take half the damage and be knocked straight into the air for half the duration. Enemies are untargetable while they are being knocked AWAY."

You are only knocking them AWAY, in the Charged version of the ult, you are not knocking them AWAY in the non-charged straight up knockup, so by virtue of the language it should still work.

I believe that the intent of the untargetable is because of crazy and unpredictable things that can happen as they fly across the map, and they wanted to avoid that. However, I'm hoping Riot is willing to fix the non-charged version of the ult so that it doesn't continue to cause problems with your teammates.

The reason you would choose -2- and knock straight up is because you still want to fight that person, not knock them AWAY. You still want your teammates to kill them, or the turret to kill them. You still want to synergize with a Yasuo Ult. However, none of those things work because in the straight knockup, you make them untargetable, and all of your teams skillshots are wasted and now on cool down because they missed the untargetable target.

Probably because Riot specifically didn't want synergy with Yasuo or the ability to hit them while they are airborne just in general.

It's not a bug. Making them untargetable during the knockup forces you to reposition to a better one, while keeping them targetable would really cause a lot of the knockup-wall stun combos to just not be thought of at the time by lower tier players.

I'm not saying your both wrong, but those don't seem like good reasons for the mechanic to feel broken.

@Brutal: I don't think that's a good reason, I actually would think the other. Players learn those strategies about positioning as part of mastering a champion. Yes, first time players won't always think about that repositioning for a wall stun, but mastering a champion is one of the best parts of League. And I'd actually think the current implementation is even "harder" on first timers because they can hurt their own team.... much like Ryze novices ulting wrong and killing their teammates.

@Joxcab: That's not a good reason for a knockup to not be considered a Knockup for Yasuo. That's extremely confusing. If they wanted to not synergize with Yasuo, they could have just made it a Stun instead of knockup.

I'd really love Riot to at least review this and explain this, or consider fixing it.
