I've been thinking about some Veigar changes
**Q: ** When Q is used during cooldown, Veigar rapidly summons small bolts from the sky from up to 600 range that land on the cursor's location after falling for 0.5 seconds, dealing damage in a 60-radius AoE. Each bolt deals 10/20/30/40/50 (+ 15% AP) damage. Enemies standing still under this attack will take 30/60/90/120/150 (+ 45% AP) per second. This costs mana per second to maintain This ability is auto-quickcasted, and the button must be held to maintain the stream of bolts. NOTE: The stream of bolts follow the cursor, it's not like an AoE DoT, it's like a bunch of mini Dark Matters.
W: Dark Matter now applies Cripple, disabling dashes and blinks for 3 seconds.
R: Removed enemy AP ratio
The idea was to give Veigar a possible pattern when his abilities were off cooldown, a usual weakness of burst mages.
Basically, Veigar's Q off cooldown works like a rapidfire starcall (three per second), with a much smaller AoE. I thought of a slow on W, but that would really be punishing to immobile mages, who Veigar already is pretty mean to. I don't know how these changes would go, but I think something radical needs to happen to his kit to push him to be a more fun champion.
I wanted an ability that CAN work well with his cage, but doesn't completely depend on it. It's a bit reminiscent of people's idea to give Veigar's W charges, but without completely ruining the champion. This works in tandem with his current W, allowing Veigar to create a labyrinth of projectiles and zone control within his cage, and also giving him some strong waveclear that tears through his mana a bit.
Most importantly, I don't want his Q off cooldown to replace his W during the E stun. That's why his W gives him a good chance to land some Q bolts after the stun wears off, with the cage of pain being a viable fallback pattern when he misses the stun.
Looking at it from both sides, this is a large buff to Veigar, so his kit may need some tweaks. His power level isn't what I'm concerned with, it's mostly about giving Veigar a more reliable pattern. (Which is why his W cripple is up for debate)
