Dynamic Garbage..I mean queue

ChrisThePleb··98 votes·1,962 views

Can anyone direct me to a recent article or post about solo queue? I've been suffering with this garbage. Duos are so toxic it hurts my brain. I can't describe how horrible it is to play with a premade. Please Rito. Please.

But but but ... how can this sorry excuse for a queueing system be bad?

I mean...the vast majority of people plays it, rooooight? (Not that they have another choice^^)

Team Builder, my favorite queue, sacrificed by RIOT to make this thing look better.

Toxicity is a choice of the players, not RIOT's/Dynamic que's fault. Toxic players existed in nearly all our games long before Dynamic Que ever existed. So if your complaint is about toxicity then report the players and make damn sure you are never toxic yourself (one less toxic player per game).

If your complaint is about Dynamic Que, what do you not like about it? (other than getting paired with toxic players, which again, happened long before Dynamic Que)

If your frequently getting paired with 2, 3 or 4 man groups the chances of your teammates communicating and playing more like a team increases, which increases your chances of better games (but certainly not guaranteeing). And if that's the case, Dynamic que increases your chances of winning. So again, what do you not like about it?

If your complaint isn't about toxicity or pre-mades, then is it about not testing/ranking individual skill? If so, realize Solo/Duo never did that in the first place. The game has always been about how well you can get thrown together with strangers and work together for a common goal. Your rank is based on Win/Loss, which is a team effort. So you've always been ranked on how good you are at adapting to whatever team your given. So again, what do you not like about it?

Everything. I don't like everything. Like many players who've expressed their opinion.

Queue times are ridiculous.

"Teams" help you win...that's BS. Sure it works in theory, but that's a theory. The real world isn't a theory.

Teams do cause more toxicity. Since you want to pull out theories of groups working together helps you win then I'll counter that by saying groups gang up on the one who isn't part of the group. Blame the 5/1 top laner who isn't feeding just because he isn't on the Skype call.

When I play alone I want to be matched with other solo players. I want everyone to be on an "even" playing field without the need to worry about group toxicity.

You people have your rose tinted glasses thinking Riot is god. Riot messed up on this and they are blatantly throwing their customer base's demand in the garbage.

I actually agree that it doesn't play out as well as one would hope in theory, but it does increase the chances of it occuring. I also agree with you that the "mob mentality" of pre-mades is an issue. Getting ganged up on by 2,3 or 4 other players is not ok, but again the root of the issue is the players toxicity not the que itself. It's easy to say "then don't que us with them", but If the players were genuine and nice (like riot expects them to be), would you be complaining about being que'd with them?

Simply stated my point was, Pre-mades aren't inherently toxic by nature - It's the people who make up that pre-made that choose to be toxic players. So how is that in RIOT's control other than the report system? (whole different can of worms).

There is something to be said for wanting to be que'd with other solo players, but if group toxicity wasn't an issue would you still feel that way?

I really don't think RIOT is a god, nor do I defend them on most issues. But I do think they are in a catch 22, I think they've developed a good system, but because a good chunk of their community is so toxic it doesn't work the way they want it to (lots of negative experiences that SHOULD be positive ones).

The best example I can give is runescape. People cried and cried for OSRS. Jagex delivered. OSRS didn't have the GE and people begged to have it implemented. Jagex granted their wish and still update the version of the game that is nearly 10 years old. Jagex was in a different position than Riot. Jagex was seeing its user base fall and had to do something. But the concept still applies.

Jagex gave players what they want and now the game is sort of in a revival and is doing great (in my eyes). Runescape was at one point a god among humans in the MMORPG genre along with WoW. Updates were made that changed the game completely and a lot of players left. This is something that will happen to riot if they don't take care of players wants.

We used to have duos too...

It's pretty scrapped at this point. Let me quote these.

"In an ideal (and optimistic) world, getting these numbers right would make a second queue unnecessary, but it’s not something we’re dismissing as of yet."

And

"When it comes to a philosophical stance, however, we do want to be clear: we believe that dynamic queue is closer to representing a healthy, competitive landscape in League of Legends than solo/duo queue"

They pretty much believe DQ is better and will continue investing their time into making it "better".
