Clap Clap On Ivern

I have to admit, for the last couple years I was getting worried. Dota has always had an edge over Riot over champion design, but with Ivern Riot outdid themselves. He is such an amazing champion. This time last year, Riot had a hard on for the three auto-attack shit that was unoriginal and led to the same old boring champions.

Ivern is funny, charming, and without a doubt insipired by the treants in LoTR. His kit is so unique and fun to play and im not bothered by the fact that I'll get dumpstered in half my games because his fun factor is amazing. His friend of the forest mechanic is so refreshing and creates such a unique playstyle.

I just wanted to sya thanks RIto, I thought I lost you but you came back.

Bard and AurelionSol were pretty interesting as well imo, they out of the ballpark different like Ivern but they still had new and interesting elements that changed the game

Sadly the jungle changes gutted Ivern. Kruggs give Ivern half the gold/EXP that other junglers get from it. Now that you have to start at a buff and can't start at Gromp/Wolves, you can't insta-steal the enemy's first buff if they were dumb and didn't ward, which was where a lot of his power budget was at. Then with the assassin update and Ivern's inability to instantly get camps, everybody will be roaming through your jungle and murdering you because you are a much lower level. Or they won't see you there and will just steal your free camps, which is even more encouraged to do with the addition of Poacher's Knife.

I love Ivern but I have a feeling his winrate is about to plummet. Hard.

Is it possible to already go lower? I mean his winrate is trash everywhere. We all know he'll become a niche support pick down the road and that pisses me off.

His winrate was trash but his winrate with people that played him a lot was fine. I was winning like 60-70% of games on him at one point as a niche support mostly.

Basically, I'd take smite. Instead of leashing (Ivern cannot leash) I would buy a pink + potion + support item and put the pink in the enemy jungle's bush and wait there, opposite wall of the buff. As soon as it spawned I would Q in and instantly steal it with smite and leave, meeting my laner in lane at the same time as he was done leashing.

Now the enemy jungler is very behind, allowing my jungler to have more of an impact and "win lane." I was a higher level than the enemy lane always and had a small gold advantage. Everytime smite was up and my laner was safe, I would go steal a camp. The enemy would rarely get their buff.

Whenever taking drag I would put the dragon in grass so wards couldn't see us taking it.

That was in addition to his normal supporting abilities, mind you. He had a lot of hidden power that is quickly disappearing. He can't steal the first buff anymore and the control ward basically does what the grass trick did. He's just a normal support now and it sucks because a lot of his power was unique interactions and mechanics. When they buff him, it won't be with those interactions but rather small, raw stats.

They inadvertently ruined an insanely fun champion tbh. Like, not even intentionally. They just didn't have the foresight and it's kind of frustrating

I cannot get tilted on Ivern. It's impossible. That's how charming and fun he is.
