My issues with the current "Mage" Categorie
Currently there are 3 types of mages. In my opinion.
Mages that have very high wave clear/burst and do not rely on mana so much to kill their opponent and cs. Then there are mages that have low burst (unless heavily fed), weak wave clear or wave clear that costs a MASSIVE amount of mana. Low kill potential, mana starved, has to juggle CS and harass and will constantly call for a ganks. Even if the match up isnt horrible
Some Mages that are good right now are

Because they do not need a constant mana pool to cs and kill their opponent. On top of their high burst/poke, making them ideal in any situation that isnt against them.
But on the other hand the other side of mana dependent and weak burst mages consists of.

And here are the few odd mages that are good/bad depending on the match up and do not specifically fit in the 2 categories above. But may have weak burst/ wave clear/ mana problems.

The problem is about half of the current mages are in an awkward spot due to weak burst (maybe due to nerfs), the now horrid mana regen nerf/mana regen item options, and heavy assassin/gap closer meta. They are just out classed by mages with good sustained burst that do not need to juggle between csing or harassing their lane opponent. The weak mages will either stay in mid csing as much as they can or constantly die, leaving the other laner to get fed, roam, farm freely and over all be a better champion in fights.
These issues must be adressed to have a more equal mage class, wave clear mages should have decent kill potential without being mana starved. Mages that can be good but are held back from massive mana costs and low burst need to be tweaked. ETC.
TLDR: There are many mages that are weak/ in an awkward spot right now. They struggle to cs/harassing their lane oppontent and are outclassed by assassins/high burst mages. Over all mana regen was massively nerfed leaving lots of mages behind. And many mages that can shine are held back from weak burst/mobility/ the current assassin meta.
