Ideas for Ornn's passive

Tl;dr - "This person is obviously some kind of retarded. Best to downvote now and not discuss."

I really like Ornn's passive. Its unique amd fits well with his theme, but as far as gameplay goes there is no tradeoff. Im talking about the buying items at any time part.

Here are some suggestions as tradeoffs for being able to live top lane.

1 - Ornn has the slowest base movement speed when out of combat. Like a fire in a forge it must be stoked to burn bright and fast.

2 - It takes Ornn 3x as long to teleport back to base.

3 - When Ornn crafts an item its effects are halved until he returns to base. This then unlocks their full power.

4 - Reduce Ornn's base regen on hp amd mana. (Not a fan of this one)

5 - Ornn must collect material from enemies or around the map near walls to craft an item. He actually requires "metals" or "essence" to craft items. Little nodes would pop up so often Bard style or it could be dropped by minions and champs. Upon collecting X amount he can craft an item out of lane (using gold too).

I personally like 5. That would make it feel like he is creating something special rather than just pulling a Rod of Ages out of his arse.

But what do you think?

There is nothing you can do to fix it, it ain't broke

I see you fall under the category of "git gud" discussion.

We thank you for you contributions.

He has too many issues, not "git gud" lol. His mana already sucks, and he can't purchase potions in lane. He already has to back. It is a minor convenience to shop in lane, only exception is jungle, which it's GREAT for, but his ganks are only okay. It's not like he does a lot of damage or has skill shots that are difficult to avoid. I'm just saying I don't see a problem with him...my opinion though. I do respect yours. Only problem I see is the upgrade for his entire team...a little unfair to the other team if you make it to late game.

See theres the discussion you should have led with. Now i respect your opinion.

I do agree that the rest of his kit is fine. His ult is clear to dodge but can still be effective in fights, his fire breath is fun to play against trying to step out of the way when melee.

I just feel that the could be more to the passive to engage both sides. We both see an 'ore' node pop up. I can precent Ornn from collecting it so as to delay him building items.

Any high mobility champion would be impossible to play against. Get a kennen who can move through minions and you will never build anything, get completely poked out and your passive would be useless. It would be too hard to counter if you could get rid of it. The only purpose I see is the novelty of the idea. It would be cool, sure...but also a big nerf :/

I don't see an issue with Ornn. If he can stay top forever, he can stay top forever. Passives don't really need tradeoffs, that's why they're passives; the 'trade off' is that his passive doesn't give him immediate combat power, like how Pantheon's ult doesn't give immediate combat power.

Btw, he can't stay top forever. He can stay there longer than most, but eventually he will need to back to refill his health and mana to maximum.

The trade off in his passive is that it disables his ability to move its Self CC, and it can be interrupted so he cant use it under pressure. Your still gonna find yourself needing to use the fountain on him. I disagree that it has no trade offs, if you don't use/cant use it provides no power, unlike most passives your directly tied to gold to use it where as others just scale off gold.

Also I don't feel its extremely unique as ya still can shop and return to lane as ekko with his R, and Shen has been able to shop and get back to a lane for ever.

I have not experienced a moment yet where Ornn is seriously CC'd. He simply steps back for a moment and then has half his build.

As for shop and back thematically Ekko time travels and Shen is doing some kind of ninja shield stuff for his ally. Where is Ornn getting the materials to craft his items? Or does he just make it from his own juices?

that's the thing he has to step back. it takes time can cost him cs. its less of a loss of time then a full back but that's it. My disagreement is that it has no drawbacks or tradeoffs you claimed in your opening post "Its unique amd fits well with his theme, but as far as gameplay goes there is no tradeoff." I feel there is a tradeoffs. occupies an ability slot, has a time investment, requires positioning to use safely, requires gold to have any effects

Was not talking about thematic, just that other champions have been able to shop then return to lane instantly before and its not something new or excessively unique to league.

That is Other with an explanation.

Here is a trade off, you can't cancel his passive while he is crafting unless you get damaged. So you're stuck for up to about 3 seconds making you an easy target.

In addition, another trade off is that he gets no combat passive.

Lastly, you can easily get poked out of lane still because you can't craft consumable items like Potions.
