@Riot Can you give us any clues or knowledge about the direction of Kayle's update?

TL;DR, I'm just wondering if there are any gameplay related hints or tidbits at all about the direction Kayle's character is going. I love the champ and want to know what to expect (and what not to) going into the massive VGU.

So a little backstory, Kayle is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire game even though I don't play her much anymore. She was one of the first few characters I bought and the first ever skin I got was Judgement Kayle back when that was given out for free. For like two years that was the only skin I had on the account and I love it even to this day both for nostalgia and rarity reasons. Kayle is a go to assassin counter, a great top or mid laner, has lots of potential for cool lore, and I think after this update there's a good chance she once again becomes one of the staple characters people think of when they hear League of Legends just like she used to be.

That being said, Kayle can build basically every which way and has been meta nearly every which way over the years, and that's what I want to ask Riot about specifically. Kayle has been a hypercarry in top, jungle, bot, and mid over the years, been an amazing support, been one half of crazy combos with characters like Yi utilizing her ult, has been full AP and full AD, in recent years has been an on hit attack speed character, etc. There's probably some more minor iterations inside those classifications I could go in detail into but what I really want to know is how Riot is handling the rework. Basically what I'm saying is, even as someone who wishes it were the case there is no way in hell she's going to be able to do all these off builds.

Current Kayle has teamfight carry abilities (Passive, E), a pretty high damage setup spell (Q), and two extremely good support abilities (W, R). With her basically getting completely reconstructed in every sense, I was wondering which path Riot is choosing to take. I think most people would agree that either E or R is Kayle's defining spell. I would argue Kayle's R is more iconic than Nunu's R, which was kept in his rework. We've gotten little hints that Kayle will "Ascend" over the course of the game to be a ranged menace, which I can only assume means her passive or points in her ult will permanently make her ranged unlike how her E currently works. This is a great direction because let's face it, late game Kayle E is basically always on and if it's not there is no reason to fight.

That's only an assumption though. I'm assuming Kayle will be a late game (hyper?)carry who starts melee and becomes permanently ranged over the course of the game, culminating into an insane late game threat. I like this direction, Kayle's fantasy for me has always been a late game character who can save teammates and poke while behind, and outright obliterate the opposition while ahead. I know Riot doesn't like to reveal things too far in advance of their champion VGUs, but I was wondering if there were any hints or answers you could give us on the gameplay side about what Kayle will be like. What is definitively out (Meddler confirmed Nunu W didn't have AP buffing, for example) that you would feel comfortable saying. Also, what is definitively a core part of Kayle's character that you are keeping around? (I think E and R, in some form, absolutely must return).

They're probably still very early in ideation, as the rework doesn't come out until next year.

You're probably right. I'm not expecting much, but for example Nunu they were like "yeah, Q and R are core to who he is" and even champions where they kept no abilities we got confirmation of like "Evelynn is a permastealth assassin," hopefully they can give something like that.

core on kayle right now is r and e he main problem is she's a jack of all trades that if ever in a favorable light is oppressive this saddens me cause kayle is also one of my favorite champs I have every skin on her except the ones that were given out before I started playing which were silver and judgement
