Let us buy Essence with ridiculous amounts of IP?

I haven't opened too many chests yet but I'm currently sitting on a mess of shards and no essence other than the 800 from the freebie. This game needs an IP sink, and buying 1k essence for 10k IP would accomplish that. Odds are this would only apply to cosmetic essence, since if you want to burn IP on champs you could just buy them outright. This might hurt sales of chests, but on the other hand a lot of people might be more eager to buy them in order to use the IP sink.

The way you're supposed to earn more essence is through chest loot directly giving it to you, or through disenchanting shards, you're supposed to pick and choose which shards to unlock content with, not hoard them all up. Hextech crafting is a great way to introduce an IP sink into the game, but essence is the last way you'd want to do it (Being able to drop a ton of IP on a chest, however, would be great since you're gated pretty heavily on chest allowances while keys are free anyways).
