I can't pick the Champions i want to

You can win the game with every champion in league of legends of course. However, with Season 8 if i pick the wrong champion i feel like i'm handicapping my team. When i say this i don't mean "Oh i can't play vayne top because my team needs a tank" I mean "Oh i can't play champions like poppy or lissandra without my team suffering for it"

By picking Lissandra instead of say, Orianna or Zoe, i have probably cost my team the game. Not that i can't win with lissandra, just that i am now going to get out damaged, out zoned, and outplayed just because of the Champ i picked, not skill.

Obviously this is opinion and not fact, but how do you guys feel? Do you agree or should I git gud?

as I see it, this is the worst season yet in regards to champion playability. Each lane has about 5 viable champions that you either play as, or you have no impact. Very unfun.

Personally, I feel it's a mix of needing to improve on skill, as well as the fact that some champs are just plain better right now, since that's how meta works.

Teamcomp is also pretty important, as Poppy or Liss can be very impactful or near useless depending on the comp. Though a lot of good champions aren't meta, I'd still pick em, because many of the non-meta champions are still in a pretty good spot.

Though I do think Liss is kinda weak atm.

The best advice I can give is that due to how the meta is now, team comp is more critical than before. It becomes less of "Which champion is better", and more about "What works with the picks of my fellow team members?" Recent games I've lost are typically due to people not considering this (sometimes including myself due to nearsightedness), and it becomes a problem that still gets overlooked. Lissandra is by no means a bad pick in terms of herself as a champion. It's just a matter of whether or not the team as a whole compliments each other's picks.

My problem is when i get a team comp that fits perfectly for a champ like lissandra, (a comp full of follow up engage) but i can't make it out of laning phase to use her properly. I don't play liss often at all, im just using her as an example of a weaker champ right now.

If you really want to pick to win though, champ select revolves around bot lane. If bot lane has a hyper carry+tank, your team NEEDS a minimum of 1 assassin and a diver. If bot lane has a AD caster+any support, your team NEEDS a minimum of 1 pure tank. If bot lane has a hypercarry+enchanter you need to globally support your bot lane and win bot, or lose the game. Meaning pick things like Shen top, GP top, a mid laner with roam, and a highly mobile, high gank potential jungler. Its crucial you snowball the game hard before 20mins.

You can pretty much ignore your individual lane matchup, if its a lane you cant win, it doesn't matter, lose the lane gracefully. All that matters is bot lane, and countering it. Granted there are exceptions when a mid laner or jungler get outrageously fed for no reason other than people are bad, but generally the game revolves around botlane.
