Help with Transition to Unlocked Screen.

So recently I've tried playing with Unlocked screens and I'm finding the transition extremely difficult. It just feels awkward and clunky and I've died since my camera just shot to the other end of the map. So can anyone give advice on how to make the transition easier?

P.s. I know space-bar exists
