damn man he is already mna hungry as fuck . the highest mana use in the game.seriuosly by rank 5 in his skills 3 of 4 abilities cost 100 mana the other costs 80. For them cost he absolutely have to have mana regain in his kit. NOw if they reduced the mana costs back down to compensate it really would still be the same cause manaflow band is op. let me tell u about the worst match ive ever had on malz, was against a zed guess what he did/ held his q until i used viodlings crushed them down every time so i couldnt push the wave well and every time i used my e he would literally stand next to a dying minion with it on and absorb it. Sounds dumb as fuck thing to do but good lord did it fuck up my laning phase.

But this is all Malzahar has. He pushes the lane, moves back and then press the repeat button. Trying to punish Malzahar for this would either require some form of strong AoE to kill his W, or extreme range to get his shield popped if you don't want to get obliterated by his suppression.

It's so linear and boring, just an auto-push button and then a danger zone for anyone getting too close.

You do realize the only reason his E costs 100 mana is because it gives mana back? Pantheon Q costs 45 mana and does more base damage than Malzahar E, same as Malphite Q and his slows too, so you either give it more damage or lower it's cost.

Okay, but none of those abilities you've compared it with can push an entire lane without you ever being near it. 140 mana to gain gold for an entire wave and being totally safe, while also restoring 12%-14% of your mana is borderline broken.

I think increasing CD on Q back to 9 to rein in his endless resets/pokes

and/or

Removing Shield to make ulting/pushing lanes riskier

Would do more than making Malzahar get the item he already gets item 3802

Although I'd prefer a full revert.

It makes me sad when everywhere I go, no one knows why my user is Little Voidling.

Its always "Is that from Star Craft" or "Oh the void creatures from Divinity 2"

No one seems to remember the Voidlings that grew after 7 seconds Q_Q even on league streams

Plus Old Malzahar had more-control-over/less-restrictions-on his spells to make them more flexible.

The only thing I dislike about old Malzahar was his Null Zone, and his voidlings were just kinda... there. They weren't really part of his rotation, but sometimes they did a minor difference.

Null Zone was a very subtle poke spell for the laning phase. (I actually did R>E>W>Q instead of R>E>Q>W, which is what most people did)

Plus it was able to be placed anywhere.

Its 800 range along with its instant cast and near instant damage tick start (0.25s I believe) allowed you to more reliable catch someone running away (With Rylai's) or kill someone right on the verge of death (If it came off its 14s CD/8.4s with 40% CDR).

It also could be used as an obstacle to save teammates (i.e Volibear chasing your Ashe)

Zone away people trying to harass you or enemies away from portions of the lane while siege towers.

It was a subtle and unappreciated spell that was unfortunately only remembered for:

"Seeming to deal less damage than Q or E or R" (Due to damage ticks being one second apart. i.e. Not as fast as new fountain when compared to old)

or

"Only seen with his Ultimate/Combo"

Riot focused on the second point and now the pool's only purpose in existence is being there for Nether Grasp.

Old Voidlings were another subtle part of Malzahar's kit.

Yes. They could be spammed 2-3 at a time (AD Malz with tear) for killing towers fast.

However, most people played Malzahar mid. And most people who played him mid didn't care about their little friends.

Those that did care, for example, learned that during the laning phase, you could time the Voidling's growth 4-5s into its Adult form so that as it is hitting the last melee minion while you were weakening the back line with your autos (Or W, but you'd rather save that)...

You could either use Q to kill the back line and bounce E to the enemy laner or if they were close enough, you could AA them to direct your Voidling to them and then cast E on them (As Malzahar used to have 550 AA range and E was a 650 range spell).

This would sick a Voidling turning into its frenzied state at them.

You could choose to go in on them if they were close enough or watch the Voidling literally chase them out of lane. When they ran to tower with the Voidling hammering on them (Leash was 1700 range I believe), you could walk back and reel the Voidling back to you to both save it and deny the enemy laner 12 gold.

Now-a-days they are included in a short CD spell and are treated as disposable throw-aways worth 2g apiece.

I miss those little guys...
