Thoughts On More Sona Nerfs in 7.24
So, Just finished up reading the nerfs coming on Sona in this upcoming patch. For those of you who haven't seen them yet:
Hymn of Valor (Q) Mana cost increased from 45/50/55/60/65 to 60/65/70/75/80 Bonus magic damage lowered from 20/30/40/50/60 (+20 AP) to 10/15/20/25/30 (30% AP) (To clarify this part is on her Aura/powerchord. It affects all her teammates and herself.)
This is with Sona sitting at a 51.94% winrate on op.gg, ranked 9th of the supports, almost 4% lower than her previous winrate due to the first round of hotfixed nerfs:
Base Armor: 30 -> 28 Base Attack Damage: 50.04 -> 46 Aria of Perseverance Base Heal: 35/55/75/95/115 -> 30/50/70/90/110 Aria of Perseverance Shield Strength: 30/55/80/105/130 -> 25/50/75/100/125
This just seems so overkill. After losing the passive on her heal that gives her a stronger heal on allies who are below 40% HP, and then having her heal and shield nerfed again, it takes almost her entire mana bar to heal up an adc after a bad trade, since there is no inherent mana regen in the runes.
I've mained Sona off and on since Season 3. Through 2 reworks. This is the first set of nerfs that genuinely makes me feel like she's gutted and unplayable. What's the point in playing a healer with a pitiful heal or a mage with no damage? I can play Nami, and I get the heal, the damage, earlier CC, an autoattack buff for my ally. I can play Soraka, and I get a much stronger heal, the damage, earlier CC, and a global heal. Or I can play Sona, who I love, and I can fight through this and change my entire playstyle yet again to accommodate the restrictions on the champion. It will take me a few days to get used to her not doing any damage upfront, but maybe if I swap out Scorch for Gathering Storm, and build AP as my last item, I'll be able to coax some sort of damage in the late game.
No love for this one Riot. How could you do this to her? You already brought her back in line with the other supports. This wasn't needed! All the trends show her dropping by the day. Please, don't do this!!!
