[Suggestion] Giving FeederBuster A Helping Hand With Reviewing Feeder Reports By Modified Tribunal

We've all been there. Our game is going great, until someone makes a mistake, tilts a few degrees too far, and decides the match is hopeless. Sometimes this happens in champion select. Sometimes it's in an early invade. Sometimes it's after first blood. Maybe it was a 2-3 v 1 man dive that couldn't be helped. Maybe it was just a poor decision. But the result is the same. The player throws their hands up in the air, and proclaims "Screw this game. I'm so done." (And probably a few less polite things as well.)

And then they begin to feed. If it were possible to end world hunger using a video game, this person would be getting awards from the Red Cross, and the Salvation Army, and UNICEF, and Bono. But you can't, so all he's doing is running through lanes, stealing cs here and there, and doing everything he can to ruin the other lanes. He pretends to initiate, so that his team commits, and watches as they die. He runs around telling the enemy team where they are. He's smart enough to keep from building the troll items. No 6 Tears for this feeder. He knows that will get him caught by FeederBuster. But as long as he manages to get 1-2 kills, and 1-2 assists, and he buys items that are appropriate for his champion, odds are... he won't be caught.

And it's probably happened to all of us at least once. For some people, they may see this often. For others, maybe not. But even once, if it's in your promos, or in the only game you get to play that night, is enough to ruin the gaming experience for a player for that entire day. And FeederBuster is getting better. It's been tuned up, and it IS catching people more and more often for feeding. We get the threads about it here periodically where someone got banned, but usually the ones being banned are the obvious cases. The ones that I mentioned that use the troll items. It's more rare to find an intentional feeding ban for someone who bought correct items and played sneakily.

So, what was the point of my post you might be wondering? I'm proposing a modification of the old Tribunal system that would allow players to assist in reviewing video replays of games. Not necessarily in ALL of the games that are reported, as FeederBuster is working to catch the outlier cases very quickly, and punishing/pardoning as needed. But perhaps it could be useful in situations in which a player is reported by multiple players for intentionally feeding, but no clear evidence is found by the system. And it also couldn't be used in ALL reported games simply because the reported games would lead to such an extreme amount of time that it would take to review them all, but I think it might give players a bit more confidence that Riot really is taking this problem seriously, and working towards a solution.

We know that Riot has the technology to make these videos available for players to review, and I honestly think something like this, that allows the players to have an active voice in helping to show Riot what behaviors they find unacceptable, beyond the verbal ones, would be a great benefit to the game. I suppose, like with the old Tribunal, that there is the possibility for extreme bias amongst reviewer; some may always vote feeding simply because the person was playing Yasuo. And that would be the sort of thing that could be taken care of on the administrative side when picking the Tribunal.

Here's where I'm going to break from the old Tribunal big time. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I think there should be some sort of limit set on who gets to participate as a member/voter. It might seem a bit cliche, but I do think that having honor, and showing those traits does imply the sense of restraint, maturity, and wisdom that would be needed to review a clip objectively. I don't know how high you would want to set the bar. If you want it at level 5, well, it'll be a while before anyone's there. Same with level 4 for most people. You could say honor level 3+ provided the player was level 5 last season. Maybe I'm just biased and that isn't needed at all.

If the videos were displayed on a screen similar to the old tribunal pages, it might be nice to have a text box beneath for commentary (limited! no comment wars, please!) That way if someone finds a particularly convincing time point in the video, they can simply mark the time down in a comment block, and every one else can be sure to play close attention at that point. And while it would take a lot of time for this, no doubt there would be many people volunteering to help out. I'd be one of the first ones offering to do my part to try and ed this feeding fiasco.

Anyway, I think I've rambled too long now. These are just my thoughts on a potential way to give the FeederBuster some help while Riot gets it tuned up a bit stricter. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter!

Given how many people on this board treat "inting" as "making any mistake you should have known about", I'm skeptical that the community would be good judges

The idea of your suggestion is cute, but I dont think you've really though this through when it comes to maintaining such a system.

I would like to add in two examples to the purpose of context; The CSGO overwatch system & our old tribunal system.

Who can be trusted. Your idea gives the community power. The first question you'll have to ask yourself is who's actually capable to recieve this oppertunity. From your post you say players with a decent honor level is trusted, however, I highly disagree.

The reasoning for this is simply the fact that your honor level does not tell enough if you're capable of knowing when a player has a bad game, is "trolling" or hardcore feeding.

The requirements needs to be significantly higher to avoid abuse. Csgo Overwatch system has a solution, where your rank + playtime + whatever secret calculations = Experienced enough to make a correctfull judgement.

Do we have enough qualified participants? To continue from above, is the amount of dedicated players even able to handle this idea? Personally, I would say the AVERAGE player bellow plat will have a significant high chance of making unvalid judgement simply on the fact the specific player doesnt have enough experience to see the difference between a bad game and inting.

Lets say the bottom limit is a veteran player with a good report weight somewhere around plat rank. We're looking at roughly 10-15% of our entire league community being potential participants (numbers might be outdated, dont arrest me on this). I'll explain why this can be a essential issue to why this will never work.

The Overflow Imagine how many reports on players "int. feeding" on a daily basis. Now imagine how high of a % the amount of UNVALID reports there are specificly on int. feeding.

This system you're talking off simply wont be able to 'spot out the gold from the dirt'. Because of this, chances are that unvalid cases will be reviewed -> innocent players will get penalized -> The nightmare continues.

The massive amount of cases will be handled by us players (as you mention in your post). Out of the 10-15% playerbase, only a specific amount will be allowed to review cases. In short, for everyone one case reviewed -> 20 new ones will be sent in.

I like your idea, but a system like this won't work at all. The old tribunal couldnt manage the amounts, so to expect this which is BEYOND the tribunal system is... quite drastic!

I do like a suggestion like this, but who gets to decided, and with that will it be solely based on the one person who was reviewing the case? I only ask because while honor ranking could be used, how would this work when the season restarts and honors are reset? But not only that honors dont really prove anything. You can still get honors and be afk/toxic/troll. its not a means to tell if someone is actually honorable despite the name!

Also what type of incentive would there be for doing this? Remember the only reason people even used the Tribunal in the first place was for farming IP, once they took that away majority of the people stopped using it and slowed everything down!

I think it would be great, I know i would use it, but we need something that will get everyone to use the system. But not only that keep it so that everyone who does use it, uses it properly. If not we will see innocent people getting ban, especially if all it takes is just one person who hit that Punish button and have that person ban!
