Won 8 of 10 prelims and got placed Bronze 5

So my match history goes back only 7 games and I won 6 of 7 for sure. I know of 2 other ranked game I won so I am pretty sure I went 8-10.
Which is funny because I went 8-10 last season and still started B3 I think. Can someone at riot explain this. Why even waste 10 games if you are going to start me is the lowest league possible. I mean winning 8 of 10 games those 8 wins would at least put me in a series to go B5 to B4 or higher. So why waste my time if you plan to start my at B5. If I went 10-10 where would I be?

You lost one of the first ones (I checked your ranked match history on op.gg), which are significantly more important, since that first game or two decide where the system is trying to start you.
