why do so many people play ezreal?

as of patch 8.4 ezreal has the second highest play rate of any adc, HOWEVER he also has the fourth lowest win rate. he cant hard carry games because of his caster play style, the "bluebuild" ezreals don't do enough damage since IBG was reduced to 100% base damage from 125%. trinity force isn't enough of a change in build to allow for hard carry potential in the late game, and to top it off there is only about a 10 minute window of opportunity right after the trinity force and muramana spike where he needs to close out the game. However because his kit is not suited to prolonged fighting, nor is it suited to taking towers due to a lack of proper damage or armor pen/lethality, he has difficulty closing out games even when hes ahead which allows the more reliable adcs to reach their late game and destroy him.

games where ezreal wins are more often than not the result of other lanes reaching their critical mass or the presence of an additional marksman or hyper carry on the team. 14.9% of all games have one, even tho hes not good enough to win on his own.

So i ask why do people play ezreal so much?

Edit unanimous answer: fun in the competitive environment people pick a champ for the fun of it, not to win but because fun... i don't understand the logic
