Can we get a "magnetic boots" enchantment for knockups the same as everyone can take Sash for CC

Huge Direwolf··89 votes·4,682 views

My suppress gets instantly cleansed with the cheap sash item, while I get knocked up all day by Yasao xin nami alister etc etc etc with no counterplay available to me. If there is a hard counterplay item to suppresses there should be a hard counterplay item against knockups. e.g. activate for X seconds of immunity to knockups

With their current implementation of animations I don't think Riot actually knows how to reduce the duration of a displacement or knock-up without distorting or bugging out the animation. I think this is the main reason tenacity has no effect on displacements and knock-ups.

an easy workaround would be knock them up still, but let them take actions normally

another would be to speed up the animation 10X so it lasts 1/10 the duration (the magnetic boots quickly pull the champion back to the ground)

I think there's more to that than just bugs. Riot may have decided that CC which is not effected by the likes of Tendency or QSS, is an important leaver of balanced. Otherwise, the balance of CC may hinge to heavily on the presence, (or absence) of Tendency.

Well think about how would this "magnetism" stat interact with extreme displacements like LeeSin ult. There are two options. Option one is that it reduces the distance of your displacement which is a massive nerf to Lee's ult (not saying Lee doesn't need nerfs) and really all displacements in the game. The other option is that it increases the "missile speed" of the target so that they arrive at their destination in less time and therefore are disabled for less time, but this is arguably a buff to Lee's ult because the target's team has less time to dodge their flying team mate.

Its great that lee is the example used in this. Some others include Blitzcrank (dunno how that will happen) Darius Gragas Janna Gnar Orianna Poppy Poppy Poppy Singed TahmKench Thresh Volibear and Vayne. I find it funny how leesin is the only one people are really concerned about with displacement abilities.

Honestly, i think it should be different for each champ. Some its just tenacity but others its distance. People with linear/move-to-this-location probably should be distance whilst others should be straight tenacity.

It can work in the same vein as Olaf's ultimate, where they simply become immune to displacements, but still take damage associated with the displacement ability.

It's not like Riot hasn't actually had to code for a situation like the one op proposes. They just haven't done it for boots yet.

You forgot to mention some other ones, such as Azir Aatrox Malphite Sion Jayce JarvanIV and that's all I could also think of

There's Quinn too.

Explain gangplank oranges.

dangopee1 votes

Gangplank oranges Olaf ult Sion ult they cancel the cc completely. There is a big difference between just not doing the animation vs trying to transform it in some way to make it take less time.

Sion can't cast R while CC'd, learn your champions.

They just need to make knockups and airborne reduceable by Tenacity, as they SHOULD be.

Mestm976 votes

Nami Q is an Stun actually, just a cooler animation you can reduce it with Tenacity

I told that to my friend. And I told him I cant ulti if he bubbles (I was yasuo)

Turns out I could

So nami q is knockup reduced by tenacity

Mestm971 votes

Oh well thanks for telling us, more secret power for Yasuo yey.

Truly Prideful5 votes

Do this or just let sash get you out of it. Knockups are bull, they are stronger and more common than suppression.

Tell me again how Knockups are so strong and common.

Also, there are only 4 suppressions in the entire game. So not entirely sure why you are bringing them up.

Ralanr4 votes

You can sash out of a Yasuo ult actually.

Huge Direwolf13 votes

I'm talking about his knockup not his ult, Steel Tempest 2 hits and you're knocked up.

Mestm972 votes

Anyway Yasuo's ultimate deal damage in the area where it lands so its kinda hard to avoid the dmg, anyway you can just kill him or something after using Sash

Durzaka4 votes

Most, if not all knock ups are designed around not being reduced by CC. They are either shorter than average CC, or they are harder to hit with longer durations (fully charged Janna or Sion Q for example, or delayed like Cho'gath for another example).

Give a way to shorten them, and every single one needs to be rebalanced around that idea.

Rundus12 votes

Forget shorten them. Make an item that can, for a VERY short time (someone said .5 seconds earlier), cancel them altogether on a decent cooldown. Make it an active and you got counterplay that can be easily mitigated by baiting. No one is gutted, and it'd have more counterplay then a qss (which can be used mid-cc).

Durzaka2 votes

What part of they specifically design knock ups to be reliable CC that isnt stopped or reduced by something did you miss?

Rundus11 votes

None of it. You said shortening them would prove problematic, and I just told you to forget shortening knock-ups and gave a more balanced way to deal with them. Also, several champs heavily rely on certain cc aspects of their kits (like ww) but they are allowed to be given obstacles like sash or cleanse, so I see no reason why parts of champions who use knock-ups can't also be given obstacles. Zac gets two of those things, so a single dodge wouldnt be too bad, Yas is given tons of them, Sion has his q and ult, Janna has her q and ult. Most of the people with knock-ups wouldn't be shut down nearly as hard as sash can shut ww or malz or Cass. The item wouldn't be broken or cause a rebalancing of every knockup. You'd just have a way out of ali's combo every once in a while, or a way to aid you in outplaying a Yas or getting past a Janna.

SociopathFriend4 votes

Uhhhh no? Hell no? If you want an item that does that then maybe you'd have a case- but a boot enchantment? They're all meant to be afterthoughts, a small boost to movement speeds or spells. Not a way to avoid the CC that most of said champions have to work extremely hard to land.

ParaBellam4 votes

I can see it if it has a cooldown. Something like X minutes between each knockup.

Oh wait, that's pretty much item 3102

But honestly it sounds like a good idea until you realize it will completely wreck champs that really rely on that one knockup ability like Alistar . Without it, he's literally half the champ. It's just Yasuo that's annoying

originary913 votes

Magnetic boots - Your character will cling to the ground and become immune to knock ups for the next 0.5 seconds. The damage applies, the knock up doesn't. Give it like a 20s cool down. Also, you have to anticipate the knock up, so it's not that OP or anything, more skill based then anything.

The Deckowner2 votes

some champions rely on knockup/displacement alot such as malphite and alistar, if that item exist they will become useless.

Huge Direwolf5 votes

do they rely on their ults more than WW? He has like 1 ability now and it gets cleansed every time.

Handin Out Naps3 votes

Warwick needs a rework, malphite and ali dont.

Mistress Madoka2 votes

I agree with Alistar Not needing one.

I'm on the Fence with the Malphite part tho. I think they could make him a LOT more interesting to play.

And to look at.

Fear Popo3 votes

There is never a game where more than 2 people have QSS, and games where there are more than 1 are incredibly rare. Whereas if with a boot enchantment, literally all 5 people could make themselves immune. Apples and Oranges.

Malphite still has access to one of the few attack speed slows; let alone AoE, and a substantial targeted slow, that's hardly "no cc"

why dont u ask everyone if malphite is anyuseful without ult. his soft cc are nothing compare to what his ult brings.

Yes, he is still useful without his ult. He can get tanky and throw rocks at people.

a malphite without ult is definitely useless in teamfight, without ult means he has no initiate power which is waht his entire kit is about.

This applies to roughly 90% of the champ pool. I didn't say his ult was worthless, just not to underestimate the other cc he offers.

as a tank if u dont have hard cc(ie every tank) or some very strong soft cc(ie nunu) u are exactly useless. even with strong aoe soft cc isnt enough that is why nunu isnt strong right now.

K, I'm just gonna show myself out, seeing as you have no idea what you're talking about.

The Deckowner2 votes

No you have no idea what u are talking about, go on and play Taric without puting a point/use his stun ability, and test out how useful he is. if tanks can survive without their cc u should probably do just fine.

4th3t0s2 votes

Malphite still has viable CC

That's my whole point, which you've completely ignored.

ReaverCamera1 votes

I get that nobody likes Yas, but honestly, making an item that can completely fuck another and has only that one use is a bad idea.

Rundus13 votes

I'm just gonna put this here: item 3140 Warwick Malzahar Cassiopeia Skarner .

Occams Raiser1 votes

everyone isn't building sash. Boots would be on everyone (carry) cause it would be so cheap.

Rundus11 votes

it doesn't have to be a boot enchant. That was just the original idea. Such an item could easily be made as a whole new item that benefits one group best (like a tank item or an ap one)

Occams Raiser1 votes

it would be cool as a whole new boot.

Huge Direwolf1 votes

i dunno i play warwick all the time and in most games where I have a few kills the enemy adc certainly has a sash and sometimes others do too. I don't think anti-knockup for a duration of a few seconds would make yasao useless. Think about how hourglass works, you'll completely immune for a short time but people can play around it.

Occams Raiser1 votes

smart carries indeed. but I have seen most games where no one builds sash against ww or Mal. Anti knock up sounds like a great idea to me. It would just need a cooldown higher than the cd of the person with the knock up,
