Deal no damage, get no recognition from your team, get blamed for the map having no wards even though you can only place 3, be 4 levels behind everyone and build the same items every game or you will get flamed.

I don't really care about recognition (be it good or bad) from a bunch of randoms I'll probably never play with again, I'm much more interested in how I feel my performance was. I find a sense of satisfaction from constantly pushing up vision and saving carries and getting a silly KDA, and always feel smug denying the enemy kills, plus I feel like I'm a better support than most, and so playing support increases my teams odds of winning much more relatively speaking (I'm ok at 'carry' roles, but almost everyone seems to like those and is probably also decent enough at those roles, while support [like jg] takes a somewhat different skill set than being a carry in a lane).

lots of sups do damage, but damage isn't key to a good sup. you need to make the plays.
same items every game is a bad idea, items are situational.
if you don't enjoy sup just don't play it.
