Is it me or does Janna seem more like a utility mid-laner than a support

If I was a new player, I would've thought Janna was a mid laner. Here's why.

  1. Her lore screams offensive deity coming to wreak destruction on everything if something bad happens, not a peaceful support.

  2. Her kit seems something like a utility mid laner would have. She gets a lot of self movement speed for free, her passive carries her team, she has a big tornado that does decent damage, a lock on damage and slow, huge shield and disruption ult. Her kit kind of reminds me of the birth child of Azir and Anivia.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Janna as a mid laner, she doesn't seem like the support she is supposed to be. I'm not asking for a rework, no no, but could you like change her lose into something less...destructive? That doesn't really seem like a support to me.

Janna is a disengage support who can heal and shield. she provides no damage what so ever

Her reliable Damage is near inexistent and she is very good in protecting 1 or 2 chamions, so ... what?

Destructive? She barely deals any damage. She is the most a support can be, you can hardly find a champion that fit better the supprot stereotype. You get speed boost for your team, CC from tornado, slow from W, Shield which also boosts damage and ofc her disengage ult which also heals. When you look her post game stats, you can very often see her on the bottom of all charts, yet she could well be the carry of the game, all by her utility

I said her lore...

sorry, then i misunderstood. Anyway i find the LoL lore very childish and boring, i pay little to no attention to it and if what you say is true, they totally missed the point with her lore

Before her Q was nerfed to the ground (from 75% Ap to 35% +10% for each second, max 3 seconds of charging) and her W from 80% AP to 50%AP, she could be built AP, but it was considered a trollbuild IIRC. Also her W with high level of AP could reach 100% slow and snare them for 3 seconds instead of slowing, but it was eventually capped at a 80% slow max.

It was always capped at 80% you know. I mean once they made it scale with AP.

Yeah, my bad, that must have been when she was on the PBE. They eventually capped it at 80% in live.

She actually used to be a viable midlaner (or top in principle), but she's basically gotten seasonal nerfs since she's always been too strong in one form or another.

The issue riot had with her being played midlane was that she was too safe and uninteractive. People could sit way back and wave clear with her nado, and be essentially ungankable, particularly in conjunction with her ult, so there wasn't really any counter play. She'd just waveclear from safety forever until she was huge and/or towers fell. (Nowadays her AP ratios have been gutted, so you need a lot of ap before you can even begin to instant clear casters much less entire waves, and late game even a full AP janna isn't going to offer much damage compared to conventional mid laners.)

Once upon a time her gameplay might have been more in sync with her lore, but for balance reasons she's been toned back to basically be the peel support. Lots of other champs have disconnects between lore and gameplay for gameplay reasons too, Janna isn't special in this regard.

She felt better back before they kept nerfing skills and removing aspects of them.
