allow people to voluntarily opt out of autofill

if riot is about making the game better they would not have autofill on 24/7. they should simply allow people to opt out and wait for their choice of lane. if people played their lane of choice i think people would have more fun than they do. like the title says just let people have the choice.

That would impact queue times for everyone and would push "Fill" even more in the "almost guaranteed support" direction.

We had that before. It forced anyone willing to Support from time to time to be Support Mains until they opted out too. You'd end up with everyone just opting out instead of fixing the problem.

Next season they're going to transition to a separate MMR per role, which should help.

people have already been on board with waiting and not caring about the wait if everybody gets their desired role. id rather play 1 great game then play 2 marginal to bad games due to the support being autofilled by a player who just locks in a carry and plays carry. as opposed to being the support. rather wait for the person who really loves to be a support. if riot wants to force people to be support then maybe lock out all champions not classified as support. so that the person who got autofilled plays the role.... however this gose against my belief in free choice being king and the best way.

ITT: People who don't play ranked discuss queue times that they actually have no experience with. Queue times have never been a problem below Challenger. Even my Diamond I queues a few seasons ago were usually only 5-6 minutes.

Also, at Diamond, auto-fill is largely ADC and jungle. Support auto-fill is very rare. It also auto-fills to start games very aggressively.

Even if you are a well rounded player, you get your desired role 9/10 times, and will be extremely out of practice with the three other roles. This might hold up in low brackets, but you can't play an out-of-practice role against a Diamond+ player who mains that role.
