To give you some context on Caitlyn we originally disabled her due to a bug with her ult, where it would grant permanent vision against targets with spellshields. We got a fix for that in, but the fix for that ended up introducing a different, more serious issue that could cause games to crash. We disabled Caitlyn again as a result, and are working on a fix for that second problem.

As a side note this sort of occurrence is the reason we don't hotfix more than we do. Hotfixes are a great tool for addressing something quickly, but they don't have a full patch development cycle's worth of time to get tested however. As a result there's the risk of introducing something as serious, or more serious, as the problem you're trying to address. Because of that there's a certain threshold of problem needed before we feel a hotfix is worth the risk. Some bugs that we've got a fix for therefore get addressed in the next scheduled patch, rather than in an immediate hotfix.

wait does this mean that we're going a whole patch cycle without ever having to see caitlyn in our games?

I don't mind. I hate Caitlyn.

If they aren't planning to hotfix it,then yeah.We probably won't see Caitlyn till 5.12.

Hopefully not. We're working on a fix still, leaving a champion disabled for a significant period of time is something we do our best to avoid, so if it's practical to we hotfix for disables. The exception to that is we know the fix has a high risk of breaking other things we avoid hotfixing and put the fix through a full testing cycle (e.g. if modifying code that affects a number of other game elements too, which is what lead to Viktor/Rumble being disabled for an extended period).

So there are some bugs that still exist in the game but the fact that they could break something means you'd rather go through a full development cycle than hotfix it. However the fact that this Cait bug is literally game breaking makes it on top of the priority list of bugs to get fixed compared to other champions. So there is a small Orkin team getting rid of these bugs depending on how severe they are... atleast there's progress of the smaller annoying bugs only to be held up and postponed by the big threats.

Edit: Just recapping to make myself clear of how the Orkin or the .... uhhh... CUTS team works.

It's a risk versus reward tradeoff. A genuinely game breaking bug, or champion disabling at least, justifies a much high degree of risk than less impacting bugs (e.g. one ability on a champion is dealing somewhat less damage than intended).

So what you're getting at as a tl;dr version is that instead of rushing a hotfix patch to fix something, riot is taking the time to properly fix the issue because it's more serious, which means it might not be out until next patch.

I don't recall doing anything wrong. As a Caitlyn in Real life, I do not know why I got banned, but if I am being removed from the game until something gets fixed, I will have to accept whatever wrong doings I have done. I'm sorry :(.

Erm remember these two Viktor Rumble

On an unrelated note, do you guys EVER plan on doing something about afks? If not, i'd like to know. So i can quit caring about my status in the ranked ladder.

Realistically, there isn't going to be some magic way to just stop them outright, gonna have to deal with them.

There is a magic way to stop them. Game notices someone is afk after the game loads in. 10 minutes into the game if that person is disconnected, the game ceases to exist disconnecting all players with loss prevented on both sides. Gasp Crazy how there's literally no flaw with that plan.

Obviously with the leaverbuster ban for the guy that was afk

Jeddy0171 votes

And why give the person a leaverbuster ban?You don't know the situation on their side of the screen. If they AFK on a regular basis, yeah they should be punished by the leaverbuster system. But no bans just for 1 or 2 afks every once in a while.Life happens sometimes & when life calls, you got to answer. And your plan is flawed because like Jamaree pointed out,it screws the other team out of LP.Sure they're not losing any,but they're not gaining any either & ultimately wasted their time.

Jamaree4 votes

Except you know, the players on the opposite side who get cheated out of LP for doing nothing wrong and in turn just have their time wasted for something that wasn't in their control.

So then you think the guys on the team with the afk deserve to get cheated out of a game and have their time wasted for something that wasn't in their control? Same can be said for both sides. It's mutual destruction and doesn't affect either side more heavily. Step off your "omgritosenpaiplsnoticeme" pedestal and get real.

"Hey, those guys aren't suffering, they need to suffer because we are." This doesn't even happen in real life. You don't get to just call off the game because you lack the players, no, that side forfeits and the other players get the win. They didn't cause your teammate to DC, they didn't DDoS your opponent, and so they shouldn't be punished for it. While I do think it is unfair, imposing ever more unfairness on the other side just because you don't want to suffer alone doesn't make sense.

Says the guy who posted something totally irrelevant to the post right? I am being real, you aren't.

I'm not going to argue with someone so bigoted he literally thinks a 1 sided situation is better than a 2 sided one. For the record? Your opinions will never matter because they're bad and have no foundation. Enjoy your evening.

Also.

Way to not argue a point that no one was trying to make. Well done.

in response to all of the other responses, what about new troll players who might annoy their team even more with this 10 minute fix? "we've got all of their inhibitors, oh no! not the ADC!" or "they've got our inhibs! quick, support, disconnect, we can't lose this match!" XD

Gotta agree that nearly a week is not "temporary" at all. While I understand that Riot's got their hands full, judging by Meddler's explanation, I can't help but point out that we're all still proper frustrated by the whole darn situation.

Here's hoping Caitlyn gets back in action soon.
