How would you feel if Warlord's wasn't a Crit mastery at all?

As in something like 'Dealing more than 10% of the target's max HP in a single attack heals you for 15% of the damage done and grants you 20% attack speed and 20 ability power for 4 seconds.'

It seems kind of silly that the sustain capstone is only available to crit-builders.

A lot of the ferocity tree is just jumbled nonsense.

By my best guess, the point of the mastery outside of meshing too well with certain outliers is to reward champions who want to commit to extended trades. Do we want more assassins and siege champions to find the mastery appealing as well? I don't know, but it seems worth questioning how much champion flexibility is good for that kind of mastery before making such a change.

Doesn't seem unfeasible to tweak the idea a little though, whatever the goal decided on for such a change would be. For example, maybe adding in a radius limiting something like the proposed effect to proc on targets in close proximity would allow the mastery to extend more specifically to caster champions who also like to get in close and dirty, if that's to be deemed a wanted result.

I think they should expand it to Magic crits like anivia or nidely but that's about it so it can be used my mages you solution is a little to strong in terms the snow balling issue that's going on in league and it won't prox enough

It already includes magic crits, anivia e, karthus q.

They do in fact heal off of it.

Don't forget Koggy's Ult against low HP targets. Game counts that as a crit, too.

Though I still think it should be expanded to triggering off any single instance of damage that breaks 10% of the target's max HP. If multiple foes are hit, just have it heal off the largest instance of damage.

Or if multiple foes is too ridiculous we could just limit it to single target. And it should remain at 15%, because even the highest damage output ability doesn't really compare to a crit. How many abilities really do 1000+ damage in a single hit?

Last time I checked, it didn't work with Karthus' single target Q.

Huh. Interesting. Wonder if they fixed that.

I tested it before Warlord's Bloodlust hot fix on patch on custom game and it had no effect. I even made post about it: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/4VA5Kf2q-riot-why-warlords-bloodlust-doesnt-work-on-magical-critical-strikes

But as you can see, it didn't grab any attention from boards community.

Maybe I'll try again if it works on Karthus in bot game, but I doubt Riot fixed it.

I agree 100%. I've been thinking about it, and I've just realized that all of the healing masteries work for all healers, all the tank masteries work for all tanks, and excluding warlord's, all of the damage masteries work for all damage dealers. Yet warlord's is the one mastery that has to apply only to people who like crit, cough cough adcs cough marksman.

Fervor only triggering on basic attacks is a little more broad than Warlord's, but it's still more or less useless on caster-y folks. But that's more or less what Deathfire Touch is for.

I see the Ferocity tree as being the Sustain/Sustained Damage tree. We've got one sustained damage capstone for casters and one for auto-attackers, but the sustain capstone only works for crit-based champions. And that's just silly. Why would we want to give the option of focusing on sustain to such a narrow range of champions?

Azir I don't think fervor is comletely useless on caster-y birdfolks

Sire Hippington1 votes

his soilders don't apply on-hit, so it IS usless on caster-y birdfolks

Spoofghoul1 votes

No the soldiers definitely apply ferfor tested it myself

Sire Hippington1 votes

They give you stacks, as all abillitys give you stacks, but they don't apply the damage.

Spoofghoul1 votes

They do damage... I tested this myself

Brainfart and regurgitate popular opinion all u want in the end its still opinion and not a fact, at least i made sure to check it myself did you?

Sire Hippington1 votes

that's pretty odd, since they are the only damage source that applys this masterie, but not on-hit effects. It's also pretty wiered that runaan's does not work with his W, even though it says on basic attacks just like the masterie. Furor enchant does work with W, even though it says only singletarget or on-hit, and his W is neither of both And guinsoo's see's his W as melee-attack, gettign two stacks...

There is alot wiered stuff going on on his W that is not really to be expected, so no need to be that offensive about this.

Agree, just that 'Dealing more than 10% of the target's max HP in a single attack' isn't much better, it makes it ver target dependent on wether or not you gain the health. Also makes it more snowball, if you are ahead, your more likely to deal more than 10% of our opponents health.

With the original suggestion I was just thinking in terms of applying the 'hit something hard' concept more widely. It could be on any instance of damage against champions with the 2 second cooldown as well. Wouldn't be great for DoT champions, though.

10% of HP is very low, any champ should be capable of doing that to anyone aside from a supp.

but i think it would be fine if the %s were adjusted. the heal might also have to be lower.

if we are talking burst mages then i think it would have to be 30% of HP in a single attack. still easily doable on any burst mage but less effective against targets that build against burst.

Old Man Teeto1 votes

Would favor mages far more heavily as they can more reliably do that and could use the dual sustain + AP boost.

I wish it was more like Fervor, a stacking system, so that tier is a choice of -- getting ramping damage on attacks, ramping sustain on attacks, or ramping magic DoT damage. Sort of sets a theme for the masteries in the tree as ramping power.

Yes, because we all want Veigar to get a full heal when he ults.
